This one I just recently finished after about a month of struggling with it and forgetting about it. As always, critique and enjoy!
A Candle and a Spark
The faintest curls of smoke
Wisp away from my wick.
I live in the thickest of mist
Lightless, hopeless candlestickAre shadows all I’ll know?
While I live on in dark,
I long to be flaming bright.
But nobody’s shared a spark.If there’s a candle out there
Burning in this darkest of despair
I wish that flaming soul would spare
A spark to consume this darkMy wick would dance with light
Brilliant and pure in this ash and night
I would burn with all my might
A spark to consume this darkI yearn to burn, to drive
Shadows and chill away.
Still here I stand, dark and cold.
Flames are what can allay. If there’s a candle out there
Warming the air chilled with despair
I wish that flaming soul would spare
A fire. To burn’s my desire.Blacker than I’ve ever known
Colder than the freezing nights alone
Tonight I’m crying. Oh, I groan
For sparks to consume this dark.I can envision the fire
Rising from my lifeless, ashen spire
I wish another would aspire
To kindle a spark in me.
But how when I’m all alone right now?I can see all about
Lamps of His light flickering
Why are they smothered by the doubt
When they have the light that consumes the dark?Oh candles of Christ,
Touch them with fire, those frozen souls!
Light these lonely souls around!
Please burn for Him again! If there’s a candle out there
Burning in this darkest of despair
I wish that flaming soul would spare
A spark to consume this darkIf there’s a candle out there
Warming the air chilled with despair
I wish that flaming soul would spare
A fire. To burn’s my desire.
