@the-fledgling-artist I largely second Daeus… I do think that the Christian understanding of the nature of man (created in the Imago Dei but corrupted due to the Fall) ought to strengthen the way we depict our characters and our understanding of Fall and redemption should impact the plots of our stories (see: Tolkien’s idea of the…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist I think there’s an obvious difference when we’re writing explicitly Christian fiction. On the implicit end of the spectrum, good writing is just good writing.
At the same time, Christians should see things non-Christians don’t. They should (theoretically and by and large) see deeper than non-Christians. The Christian…[Read more]

@evelyn Oh, okay, that makes sense. 😄
Yes, I feel the same way! It’s so easy just to get lost in your story and start writing it and the thought of praying or asking God for help never entering your mind…until your stuck in a rut that is.
@the-fledgling-artist I’m sorry…I don’t really have any thoughts on this. If I think of something,…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist I’m glad you enjoyed the episode! Huh, that’s an interesting question. 🙂 I can’t think of any answers but I admit I’m curious to see what others would say. Any thoughts @josiah, @daeus-lamb? (And anyone else but this seems kinda up your alley. :P)

Also. I’m going on the record as saying I vote for the “Sky’s the Limit.” Crystal Skies is gorgeous, and it makes sense once you start the story, but it doesn’t awaken much intrigue otherwise. It could just be referring to nice blue skyes that are crystal clear or an…[Read more] -

@the-fledgling-artist That sounds like so much fun! I’ve never been super interested in drawing comics, but have a few ideas I want to experiment with. I’m really into the animated storytelling genre on Youtube though, and that makes me want to try animations/animatics. Maybe with some practice. 😀 I do have a project I’m working on, though I…[Read more]

FINISHED THE STORYBOARD. Aaaaaaah. This took me three days. But I really wanted to get a feel for how this scene would be. Quite happy with how it turned out! I know there might still change a lot while we’re brainstorming but this was so fun! @the-fledgling-artist @h-jones @april-j-rhys @slisby

@ericawordsmith No prob! XD An OYANer is someone who did One Year Adventure Novel (and probably joined the forum, went to workshops, etc.) I asked because “Wordsmith” is a very common OYANer term to describe someone with a…[Read more]

@the-fledgling-artist @lin @h-jones @slisby-scribbles just doodling again! With Charlotte? Is that what name I decided to give her? Apparently I need to give her a better one since it’s not sticking.
So *inhales* I finally read through everything and YESSSSSSS I’m so excited guys, so sorry it took me this long to go in headfirst.

@lin Oh my goodness, these pictures make me so happy. <3 *feels loved* It’s so neat having someone else draw your character just for the fun of it!
The scene with the whales is gorgeous (love how beautiful and expressive all their faces are) and I hope we can keep it! Like the world-building sketches as well (THE HAND with the STONE O.O), and your…[Read more] -

@slisby, I don’t know. I was just stalking an art forum where they were discussing the subject. Most of them were actually saying that about photo realism. but I agree with you, and don’t think it’s true about either. (I do kinda wonder about the artists who can’t make a drawing a different size than their reference photo.…[Read more]

@evelyn I started reading North and South last night! I immediately recognized Margaret’s voice, which I was already familiar with from the BBC adaptation—just goes to show how well they captured her voice for the screen.
As for The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, I think Christie pulled it off brilliantly, especially when you reread sections after the…[Read more]

I just wanted to get a discussion going on here about hyperrealism. I’ve been reading about it lately and wanted to hear some other artists opinion on the subject. A lot of people seem to think it’s not creative, it’s not art, and the people who make it are basically just human photocopying machines. Anyway, what are your…[Read more]
