@obrian-of-the-surface-world ah, got it. 🙂
@ariella-newheart Thanks! I’m glad to be here! #homeschoolsquad
I like Sherlock Holmes, Theodore Boone; Kid Lawyer series, and pretty much anything by Christopher Hart (who has a bunch of “how to draw” books). I write in fantasy, comedy, sometimes sci-fi, and I’ve attempted mystery, but it came off as…[Read more]

Hi @taylorclogston,
I am changing the paradigm a little at a time. My particular Blog novel is not geared toward evangelizing, however, but about dealing with the gritty subjects through fantasy that confronts Christians when they wake up from this half-sleep walk and realize they are placed on the middle of a battlefield with a big red target o…[Read more]

@anne_the_noob14 Just give me a heads up if life gets super chaotic for a bit and I can make sure we don’t remove you! *fingerguns*
@taylorclogston @obrian-of-the-surface-world Oh dear…people are starting to guess at ages. *nervous laughter* Nothing shall be confirmed from me.
And goodness. There’s an uprising of homeschoolers. I’m not sure…[Read more]

Hi @taylorclogston,
I’m not sure the age of everyone here but yes I may be one of the “Ancient Ones”. [ha!]
I am writing because I don’t have much time left this side of heaven. [Just kidding.]
I think the profile that I filled out reflects that, though I don’t see it displayed.
According to the statistics, I fall smack dab in the middle of t…[Read more] -

@taylorclogston I’m not entirely sure. I’d probably force myself to have an idea of where I wanted to end the story I guess. 😛 Maybe make a rule not to check messages or other distracting things until done with a daily word count. 🙂

Thanks! You too.
Here’s a question for everyone… would you do it again? If so, what would you change?

I know we haven’t gotten the results back from our NaNo word war yet, but the Prompt War of December has arrived!
Now, some of your are new to this, and that is okay! It’s fairly simple, and you’ll soon work it out.
1. We brainstorm our ideas regarding the prompt through this thread. Here is where we will discuss…[Read more]

Again, this is a recap lesson to help you keep on improving your skills in Pacing and Suspense!
The goal today is to write a really slow, suspenseless snippet, then one that is full of suspense. BONUS POINTS if they are the same scene. Not that there are points, but that will help give you the right idea.
As always, keep it fairly short. I’m…[Read more]

Hey guys, it’s Caleb!
So I have this character in a video series that I want to develop, and I wanted to see if you could help me.
His name is Bobby Jones, and he is supposed to be a mix between Indiana Jones and an adventure hero stereotype… the thing is, no one meets him. Although the plot of my story revolves around finding him, he’s…[Read more]

@taylorclogston Sounds like you were busy! Wow and congrats!
It went well for me overall. In the end I was a bit stuck because a needed only a couple thousand more words, but the story was done. Then my Dad suggested going ahead and starting the sequel and including it as a “sneak peak” at the end of the first. So I did end up winning, but by…[Read more]

She had three days to save her family from being killed by the assassins.
Three days to stop their country from losing their only defence.
Three days to live up to her destiny
Three days to survive.
Three days.
Countdowns, as a general rule, often add suspense into a story very nicely. Provided that you have it relate well to the plot,…[Read more]

Quick task: Look up, ‘plot twists’ on whatever internet server you use. A lot of those things are just lists of handy plot twists for you to use! Useless.
I mean, honestly. Try to insert these ‘ready made plot twists’ into your story. How random would that be???
A lot of people think that if their story is flt, and lacking in something, the…[Read more]
