@thewirelessblade @taylorclogston
I’m pursuing getting an art(well, animation, but that’s still art) degree currently, and I’ve been drawing since I was, well, very small… and the best piece of advice I can give you is honestly just to practice. Over and over and over. No matter what you’re drawing, no matter what style you like, no matter what…[Read more]

@trufflehunter Wow, that sounds super interesting! Now I want to read it. 🙂

@thewirelessblade Soooo… I’m a beginner too, but there have been some things that have helped me so I might as well throw them out there.
First, @the-fledgling-artist really has helped me. She’s amazing and so don’t ignore her advice! 😉
Second, I’ve found that having a sketchbook has really boosted me. Before I had a bunch of loose papers…[Read more]

Happy new year guys!
To be frankly honest, I was not expecting so much to have changed between this time last year and now. I mean, Story Ember’s didn’t even exist then. But anyways. That’s not what this lesson is about.
Before I get stuck into our new topic, I’d love everyone to tell me what they think about a few things. As you know, I’m…[Read more]

Magic Kingdom for Sale– Sold! is about a guy who buys magic kingdom, that’s fallen into disrepair. That’s all I’m going to tell you. 🙂 It is good, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s… fresh.. quite different from the usual fantasy book.
I love Hans Zimmer! (even though I haven’t seen 95% of his movies. :P) Movie sco…[Read more]

@taylorclogston No worries, I’m terrible at explaining my own WIPs. Yours sounds very interesting though! Its on the critique forum? Whoops. I guess I missed that. 😛
@trufflehunter I’ve never heard of that series. Is it good? What’s it about?
Yes, I am enjoying Watership Down! 🙂

What I’ve read – Not much actually. I’m almost finished with Magic Kingdom for Sale– Sold! by Terry Brooks, but that’s about it. How are you liking Watership Down, @evelyn?
What I’ve written – Well, I recently finished the first part of an unnamed short story, but other than that, I haven’t written much.
What I’ve learned – Th…[Read more]

@taylorclogston Oh, by the way. How was Dune? Where would you rate it on a scale from 1 to 10? Are you planning to read the sequels?

@taylorclogston Neat! What is Gilded Dark and Ivory Sun about? If you don’t mind sharing. 🙂

What I have read – So, I’m quite surprised to say this, but I haven’t read anything new lately – or at least finished anything new. I have been pretty busy. 😛
But! I’ve been reading Taming of the Shrew for school (though I’ve read it before), and Wate…[Read more]

@pursuewisdom My break was great! Pretty quiet, with lots of time for reading and writing, which is something I hadn’t had in a while. How was yours?
I would definitely recommend it (and I think @j-a-penrose would too), but I guess whether or not it’s worth it for you would depend on where you are as a writer and how you learn…[Read more]

Ah, I should’ve mentioned- yes he is depowered, but he now works for the devil. So he’s gone from being a Paladin to a Blackguard.
As far as his methodology, my thoughts would be that 3000+ years of working for the devil would be quite the negative character arc. While he started out somewhat idealistic, he gradually declines…[Read more]

@taylorclogston, I was reading your website and I noticed this phrase:
“Additionally, I’d **prefer to** steamy (or raunchier) writing, and stories with particularly heavy profanity. We can discuss this on an individual basis.”
Was this a typo? It seems like an element of the sentence is missing. Did you mean that you prefer cleaner stuff to s…[Read more]-
Thanks for catching that typo on my web site! It now includes the word “avoid,” as I intended. And thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Your game sounds right up my alley! Is the combat XCOM-like? That’s one of my favorite franchises. When are you planning on releasing, and do you have a web site? A brief search didn’t show me anything…[Read more]

We should release around May 1st; our website is still under construction, but it’s nearing completion. As for the combat, the core rule book is a more traditional D&D-like d20 based system, but I am working on gameplay supplements for managing tactical combat with teams of NPC soldiers, along with the strategic side of research, personnel…[Read more]

@taylorclogston, Glad to see someone interested! So, we’re a start-up based in Clearwater, FL, and our flagship title is a d20 based RPG, “Demons and Saints,” which is set on modern-day Earth in the midst of a secret war amongst factions of demons escaped from Hell. Two major power blocs are formed – one focused on trying to earn their way back…[Read more]

Thank you for the input! I’m still thinking about the bottom three points (Since they’re kinda contingent on the first point after all), but here’s the general idea I have:
Zalal’s Motive: To finally be recognized as the hero/worthy figure he (thinks he) is. This motive being stymied is what caused him to apostatize and change…[Read more]

Thank you for your input, Taylor. If I did not know him as well as I do, I might tend to think he was being overly defensive and sounding pretty iffy as well.
