@naiya-dyani Wow!! You’re really brave, killing off main characters. (But it does allow for so much author evilness, however.)
But right? I love my darling characters. They just don’t appreciate me as much as they should. XD
(And HAHA I know right???? That combined with me searching baby name books might make people think something extremely…[Read more]

Hey! My name isn’t Padme either, but you’re welcome to call me that! XD
And surely! Both names are very pretty. Do you prefer one?
And driving. That is awesome! I’m still learning the quirks and challenges of driving too, so I’m with ya!
And I like those picks too! I’ll have to check some of those out.
And those movie picks…[Read more]

Hey there! YES STAR WARS! Well, I am most definitely a die hard fan for sure. So I got you there!
Great question! It’s so hard to pick, because I have ones for each trilogy! But I really love Leia, Han, Rey, and Padme. For minor characters I really love Lando and Baze and Chirrut! What about you?
Me TOO! I really employ that a…[Read more]

Hey Ethan! Nice to meet you! That’s awesome!! Are they fantasy for children or for YA?
Ohh! I like your book choices! I love Chronicles of Narnia too! Have you seen the movies yet? They’re awesome!!!
I haven’t read LOTR or the Hobbit yet, but I really want to! Is there one you prefer?
I love sending snippets too, but it’s…[Read more]

Please ignore any intense awkwardness you encounter in thisHey everyone! It’s good to finally do a re-hello up here, as my old account was deleted. (It was per my request, don’t worry. It wasn’t removed by aliens or anything.)
How’s it going with you guys? I was really off of the Story Embers forum for a while, but getting back has been…[Read more]

Mrs. Skywalker replied to the topic What is involved in Beta Reading? in the forum General Writing Discussions 1 year, 3 months ago
@nuetrobolt Glad I could help!
Nope! I’ve had a beta reader who was not a writer and she gave me swell feedback. Just make sure that they are a person who reads a lot. That definitely is good if you want more critiqued feedback. 🙂

Hey there! I’ve been a beta reader and I’ve also released books for beta reading too! So I hope I can help with your questions.
I get it, because this can be confusing at times.
Beta reading can be time consuming. (This depends a lot on how long the book is and how slow a reader is.) What a beta reader is required to do is read…[Read more]

Mrs. Skywalker started the topic Discussion: Class systems in fantasy? in the forum Themes 1 year, 3 months ago
Hey everyone! I know a lot of Story Embers members write fantasy up here and I know you guys take your world building seriously (as you should!)
One aspect of fantasy worldbuilding I find interesting is the different social classes and how they interact with each other in their worlds.
As in, what type of prejudices do they have against each…[Read more]

Mrs. Skywalker started the topic How do you name things in your fantasy worlds? in the forum Research and Worldbuilding 1 year, 4 months ago
How do you writer beings come up with names for everything in your fantasy worlds? I really do admire you people. Specifically, names for things like cities, relams, lands, and countries and such? I am not good with naming things but yet using name generators seems cheesy and has no feeling or special story. (is this just me?)
Can you please help…[Read more]

@naiya-dyani Wow, that’s a long time you’ve been writing! Kudos to you! And HAHA, I know what you mean. When I first started writing, it was bad. I mean really bad. XD
Thanks for asking! I like a lot of middle grade and childrens’ literature, and I also write it! Contemporary, action, adventure, and I want to get into fantasy and sci-fi soon.…[Read more]

Mrs. Skywalker replied to the topic How Dost One Create A Fantasy Government? in the forum Research and Worldbuilding 1 year, 4 months ago
@evelyn Hi! Sorry it took forever for me to get back to you!
That’s really a good way to look at it. The government really reflects (most of the time) what the people themselves think and value. So that’s a great angle to think about.
Thanks for this great tip, it really helped!

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!
Thanks for these ideas! They are so brilliant. I never thought of thinking like that when putting a twist on governments.
And great tips! Keeping these things in mind will make the world much more rich, I think.
Thank you again for your time!

@cassandraia Hi and sorry it took me so long to respond! Thank you so much for your detailed response, it was great!
Well, that’s okay because I’m not crazy about medieval fantasies about kings and queens either. They’re not bad, just grossly overdone and a little boring to me at the moment.
Thanks for those examples, they gave me some great…[Read more]

So this is one people have been asking since the beginning of writers. How do you create a government for a fantasy world that’s not cliche??? I understand this depends a lot on the world itself, (and unfortunately I can’t really say anything about my story/world idea) but does anyone have any general tips or ideas of other fantasy (or even real…[Read more]

Haha, I feel ya! My novels are pretty long usually, so it can be a little tough trying to find people who can commit!
Thanks for the tips! I’m going to try to keep looking for people and maybe ask around and see if anyone is up to look at being a critique partner with me!
Also, thanks for the offer!! I’ll remember it! I appreciate…
