Howdy Braelynn! I’m Noah, glad to have you! 🙂
I am self-described as tenacious teen who is infatuated with books, languages, and the thesaurus.
Don’t overdo the tenacity too much. 🙃
What languages have you learned? I just started learning French, but I’m what one might call a ‘learner of languages in history.’ In other words, I …[Read more]

Oui! En faite, j’ai fait mes études de sixième et de cinqième en Savoie.
Okay, okay, I’m actually extremely new to French, so go easy on me. I just started learning it over the past month. How long have you spoken it?
Aha, yes.
Same. I find them extremely useful–though, yes, very hard to create.
Ooh, that’s awesome. What countr…

I think they’re both about 20-30 k words? Not super long, but they were a start. The first one I wrote was called Daybreak, was a sci-fi fantasy…as in they originally had spaceships but still used swords and things like that. It was about an orphaned boy who was adopted by a evil dictator to be his heir, but is also chosen by this reb…

Merci!
Oui! Tu parles francais!
My other WIP (unnamed at this point) is a cross between Robin Hood and Little Red Riding Hood set as a sci-fi. It features questions about trust, a crazy lot of parallel between those two stories, and maybe an exploding ship or two.
Robin Hood vs the big bad wolf in space? I love it. 🙃

Howdy Elena! I’m Noah, glad to have you!
I’ve finished two novels so far and started several others. Most of my ideas are fantasy, but I’ve had a few sci-fi ones. I’m also directing/writing an audio drama for a second year, and co-host a writing podcast.
Nice! What are the plots and lengths of your two novels?
Are you one of the voice…[Read more]

Howdy Karissa! I’m Noah, great to have you!
You’ll always be able to excite me by talking about books, discussing various parts of the writing process, or daydreaming about where we want our words to go someday. I love wind and stars and the sound that quivers in the air as the sound of a piano dies away, and I thrive on w…

I’ll call you when I find a dragon
You do that. 🙂
On another note, the Delphine dress is making good progress! The whole dress is put together, I’m just working on the embroidery. It’s going to take a while, there are 24 ivy leaves besides the vines and one leaf takes me about 40 minutes. I’m going to be working on it for a w…

Thanks for the response, Laura. 🙂
I usually use “Fernya shot her son a quick glare,” instead of something like “Fernya gave her son an icy look.” Maybe if you rearrange the wording a little bit, you won’t have to keep using “look” in that context?
Good point, but let’s say a character gave another character a dry look, how would y…[Read more]

Whew, that’s like four countries far XD I can never quite conceptualize how massive America is.
No kidding.
It originally started out as a “LOL, Liorah’s being stupid and impulsive” scene, but when I actually wrote it it was surprisingly sad. She’s trying so hard and pushing herself beyond her breaking point to make that miss…

I have no good reason to back it up though, other than that well, I like how it sounds.
That’s fair–and many famous authors do concur.
LOL, sorry, it’s all the pent up rage from when I had to memorize it
I feel ya. xD
That’s a good point XD I would usually just say “close” and call it a day
Now that’s how you do it.…[Read more]

One google search later* That’s a really long road trip! That’s from here to Italy! It sounds like you all had a good time!
Yep, like 13 hours or something.
You finished? A l r e a d y?? Wow, count me impressed!!! I can’t wait to read it!
I think one reason I can write for longer periods is that I give the quality of my prose..…[Read more]

Alrighty y’all, I’ve had several questions and thoughts piling up, and I thought I might as well put them all in one post. So here we go.
Replacements for look: I’m not referring to the context ‘he looked at the barn,’ I’m referring to the phrase ‘he gave her a flat look.’ Any replacement for that come to mind? I feel like a use it a l…[Read more]

And about five minutes before I’d had to explain what HEMA was because he’d never heard of it and he instantly turned around and tried to explain it to me.
Wow. Just…wow.

The recruits have occasionally practiced throws with swords in full gear, which basically involves tackling your opponent and freedom of movement has never seemed to be an issue.

However, some of the others were using feders, which are made of steel. However, you aren’t allowed to spar with those unless you have full protective gear, including a chest protector, gambeson, and mask protector.

Someone even suggested to me as a j…

My primary WIP is about a girl whose power is fourth wall awareness and tries to convince everyone that she’s not crazy- which obviously doesn’t work, and forces her to pick between her family and her power.
