    @rose-colored-fancy

However, some of the others were using feders, which are made of steel. However, you aren’t allowed to spar with those unless you have full protective gear, including a chest protector, gambeson, and mask protector.

Nice. Are gambeson’s as comfortable as they are purported to be?

Someone even suggested to me as a joke,

“Why don’t you just fight with steel?”

Me: “I don’t have a death wish, thanks.”

    “Nah, they’re scared of you.”

    I love it. xD

The longswords are according to the style of Ringeck and Lichtenauer, in the fifteenth century. The other swords are called dussacks, they’re training weapons historically used to train for one-handed one-edged weapons. However, sharp steel versions were also a viable sidearm in the 16th and 17th century. This was in the style of Meyer, who also wrote on the longsword.

Nice. I figured the medieval swords were at least the late middle ages.

I’ve shown the video to a few of my friends and they all enjoyed watching me get stabbed in the throat a little too much. Should I be concerned?

    That’s a sound question. I’m sure it’s not personal. 🙃

About halfway through he realized I was no competition and just started practicing techniques on me XD He even told me afterward “Maybe I shouldn’t have shoved you after that one”. (Not an apology, mind you, just an observation XD)

With all the strange techniques he was using, I figured as much.

I don’t know how clear it was in the video but besides hitting me in the neck he then stepped forward and shoved me backward. It was impressive and effective but I hadn’t seen it coming in any way

Shoving is always a most useful tactic. Not that I’ve ever shoved anyone of course. 😉

He was absolutely taunting me. XD The gesture was very much a “Well, aren’t you going to do something about it?” He even told me afterward “Next time someone drops their sword like that they’re being stupid and you have to stab them in the chest, alright?”

😂 I love it so much. I knew that had to be it. Taunting is the same way everywhere.

Both times when I hit him and the judges weren’t sure he pointed it out to them and made sure I got points even if it wasn’t certain.

Yeah, I noticed that. Taunting and honor make a good combo.

Also I’m glad you enjoyed watching me metaphorically (and almost literally) fall on my face XD

    Oh, it was wonderful. 😉
