My current WIP is called Upon the Throne of Embers, and it is about this young man who lives in a dystopian fantasy world split into clans, when one day he finds out he is the heir to a lost clan that was wiped out by its enemies and ignored by the others.

Think about it this way. When you’re reading a book, do you count how many sentences start with the same word? It doesn’t matter that much, especially not for readability. Yeesh, I’m at a loss. All the adventures and schemes I think of wouldn’t fit a 9 year old. xD

Whatever you choose, I would recommend trying to build a very mysterious atmosphere. Maybe think along of the lines of some powerful, fantastical/sci-fi, mysterious object that the villain wants and the kids have? That’s all I’ve got. xD
