Hey guys results are posted.
I’m running out of ways to say this but… Avensbeck won again. 😐
Anyway, we’ll get them next time. I want to heap praise on @wordsmith and @graceabounds2129 again because they were awesome. Nice work everyone with the ideas too, that was cool.
I’m not sure when our next guild war will be. We’re going to be fi…[Read more]

Brandon Miller started the topic Week 12 – Mood in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 10 months ago
One strength that descriptions have is their ability to set the mood for a scene. For example, if my character is walking in the woods I can describe either the spring breeze brushing through the trees or the hollow, cracking leaves whisping through the eeire silence. In these descriptions I’m describing the same thing, but I’m creating a t…[Read more]

Okay so the last Guild War Prompt was a little heavy. That’s okay, sometimes life is heavy and stories must be honest.
ON THE OTHER HAND, we don’t want to leave everybody feeling low, so this time around we’ve got a more… light-hearted prompt: “Write a scene from the point of view of a five-year-old who has an engaging character voice.”
Due…[Read more]

Hey Everybody,
I have some important announcements so I’m going to give them their own topic.
This week’s prompt is a scavenger hunt. Open up your favorite book and find a description you love. Once you’ve got it, share it here along with a short explanation of why you like it or how it works.
Can’t wait to see what’ you’ve g…[Read more]

Brandon Miller started the topic 2018 Week 10 – Break in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 11 months ago
Hey Guys,
I’m working on some other stuff today so we’re gonna take a well-earned break from activities this week. (If you’re feeling let down, you could always swing by the critique board and help a fellow Lumenite out.)
Also, one of the things I’m working on is a guild feedback form so keep your eyes out for…[Read more]

@missfaeriekaiti, Its much better than my last attempt at something like that. OUCH. I shouldn’t have brought that up.
I thought it helped you learn quite a bit about the different characters.

Hey Guys
Um… no announcements today.
Cool.
And the assignment I have in mind is pretty chill too. I want to try to keep making these so that they help you write your WIP (is that what you guys want, or do you want a weekly break from your WIP?) so… this week we’re literally going to write your WIP.
Go to your first scene. That opening s…[Read more]

For you fantasy people, and anyone in general.
Has anyone heard of Eragon by Christopher Paolini? I’m reading/listening to it now and I was wondering if there is anyone knows of it.

How was the week without me? Seems like Rolena did a fantastic job of keeping everything rolling smoothly. (Big shoutout to her for that.)
We have three new members (yay!)
@star, @graceabounds2129 and @wordsmith

Hey, guys, so I know you have all been popping in and out of the doc. I finished a draft of the story, but I kind of stink at endings. What do you guys think? Do you have any changes you want to make or is there anything you don’t like? Can you think of a better…[Read more]

@missfaeriekaiti That’s true, but I agree; I haven’t found it bothersome yet. They’re clean, fun reads. And her characters are great!
I’m kind of going through the authors one by one, but I haven’t been disappointed so far. I just started on Brittany Fichter’s Classical Kingdoms novels. I read one of Tapscott’s four book series, but there’s…[Read more]

Hey Rillumenites!
It just so happens that our beloved guildmaster is away for the week (doing many exciting, writerly things). So, a thousand pardons, but y’all will have to put up with me again. 🙂 So if you have any questions over the week, go ahead and direct ’em my way.

@pookiemonster made a good point: our days are dwindling. I listed out all of the ideas I found in the doc thus far and came up with seven ideas. So, if you guys want to go on over and take a vote, I think that would help get the ball rolling so we can start an…[Read more]

Hey guys,
NEW GUILD WAR CHALLENGE! This time we’ve got two weeks to come up with the most emotional death scene we can write. Here’s the dirt:
Max words: 2,500
Due: 6/18/18
Topic: Death sceneSo, last time we did this we wrote two (really good) stories and ended up having to choose only one. Not only was it hard and sad, it also wasted ha…[Read more]

Hey Guys!
First off, some announcements, sad and happy.
You may have noticed, that AshlyVye has disappeared. Story Embers had a policy change on minimum forum age (for legal reasons), and she was a year shy. I do hear, however, that her birthday isn’t too far around the corner and hopefully she will return to us soon.
Now, happy, we have y…[Read more]

@missfaeriekaiti Oh, goodness! I just realized that I was so excited to share my excitement of your story that I totally forgot to share my thoughts on your setting!!
I would have liked more setting in the cottage, perhaps before the dabnors arrived. I loved the fire and the emphasis on warm and cold were excellent, but what else? Was the table…[Read more]
