    Hey Guys!

First off, some announcements, sad and happy.

You may have noticed, that AshlyVye has disappeared.  Story Embers had a policy change on minimum forum age (for legal reasons), and she was a year shy.  I do hear, however, that her birthday isn’t too far around the corner and hopefully she will return to us soon.

Now, happy, we have yet another new Rillumenite (have y’all settled on a name?)!  (And this one reads N.D. Wilson, which makes him cool.)  Everyone give @nuetrobolt a warm welcome!

    Okay, now the activity.

Whenever you’re describing a character who is feeling any strong emotion, it’s important that you show, and not just tell the reader how they are feeling.  (Not news, I know.)  How can this be done?  A lot of ways, actually, but for now let’s focus on the most obvious: gestures/facial expressions.  Your activity this week is to pick an emotion (happiness, sorrow, anger, jealousy, etc.) and list out at least five different physical actions that convey that emotion.  Before you get started though, google your chosen emotion and look at some of the images that come up.  Then take some time and sit in a quiet corner and think about a time you felt that emotion.  This could be uncomfortable especially if you’re talking about strong, painful emotions, but if you’re not a little uncomfortable with the emotion, it won’t seem real to your readers.  Now, as you remember feeling the emotion you’ve chosen, what does your body naturally do?  How does your face hold itself?  What are you picturing in your head?

Create a list of five details/observations and share them (if you’re comfortable with that) here, along with the emotion you selected.

    Have a great week!
