That’s awesome! I’ve actually yet to read any of Josiah’s work (despite the fact that I have a free copy of one or two of his stories *hides in a corner*) but I beta read for Daeus and his work is incredible too! The whole SE community/network is amazing.
Congratulations! When did you finish your novel? I’m still working on mine. What does the…[Read more]

Yay @morwen — I always love meeting fellow Tolkien fans. Which character of his is your favorite? (Is it Morwen? XD)

(I know I’m super late to this — but do any of you all still do this/would you like to? I miss the sprinting function on the YWW and would enjoy some competition/companionship when I write.)

@wildrosejournal — welcome to SE! I’m new here myself (: There are a lot of YDubbers (some former, like me) on here.
And I’m also in shock/awe after Adorning the Dark. It’s amazing.
Here’s a line (*cough* lines) from my WIP Cathedral:

You’ll see how glorious it is to be unburdened

Maya Joelle started the topic looking for Tales of Goldstone Wood fans! in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 9 months ago
I’m looking for fans of the Tales of Goldstone Wood book series to collaborate on a fan site!
I want to start a site for the Tales of Goldstone Wood, on which site members (“knights of Farthestshore”) would post about the Tales. Lessons for writers, character analyses, sheer fangirling, etc. We’d also publish fanfiction and fanart, have a page…[Read more]

@toklaham-veruzia Hey! Just wanted to say hi. I joined SE a couple days ago and found your profile somehow (I’m used to a directory of all users, since that’s how it is on YDubs…). Maddie and I have been texting but I find it a little weird to always be saying things like “does Zachary like Story Embers?” (after seeing you in the background of…[Read more]

Huh, did I not reply to this? I meant to.
Well, Maddie just got your letter and told me that you messaged me on Story Embers. To answer your question: yes, I do like Story Embers. The staff members are all fantastic writers (especially Josiah deGraaf, who easily ranks among one of my favorite authors of all time. I got to beta read his novel……[Read more]

@cindy Hey, this is Maya Joelle! I’m sure you have no idea who I am and thus are a little confused right now. I just want to say hi and let you know that your poem “The Sound of Redemption” was one of the things that got me excited about KP/SE and poetry writing in general (“Monster” too).
Basically I just want to fangirl over your poetry XD But…[Read more]

@evelyn My personal favorite is the Ashtown Burials, but I’ve been re-reading 100 Cupboards and re-remembering how very good it is… honestly, his nonfic Death by Living is by far the best of his works. Only Niffy’s speech in Empire of Bones compares. Have you read it? What’s your favorite work of his?
@clevercraftsman Fun! Yeah, DEH has A…[Read more]

@beth20 That’s strange! I got a notification for this one.
My favorite NDW is also the Ashtown Burials (Empire of Bones mainly). Have you seen that he’s printing the fourth one as a newspaper?
My favorite Sutcliff is Knight’s Fee and I haven’t read ’em all either. -

Hey @beth20 (: I don’t think I got a notification for this? But I happened to see it somehow. And I’m not sure how everything works on here yet.
But yes, I love both of those authors! What are your favorite books by each?
-
@mayajoelle
That’s odd. If I tagged you it should have notified
you …
Yeah, my favorite books by N.D. Wilson would be the Ashtown Burials! I love those!
And my fav for Rosemary Sutcliff (not sure if I’m spelling her name right..) would be, Outcast and The Lantern Bearers! I haven’t read all of her stuff though.
How about you?

@evelyn Thank you. Glad to see my original tag worked… on the site I used to be on, tags functioned differently.
I hope so too!
(It’s from N.D. Wilson’s Outlaws of Time. I’m guessing you got that but for anyone who didn’t… there it is.)

@kimlikesart Neat! I’ll have to visit someday.
Ah. I think I also mentioned some musicals (thus my confusion). Do you like The Gray Havens?

@kimlikesart Ooh yes! I think I also talked about some musicals up there too (:
I like that. Maybe someday I’ll visit Texas.

@kimlikesart Hi!! Which songs?
I have a friend in Texas, and she likes it. I like the idea of the culture of Texas… but not the heat XD I prefer the four-season climate here in Michigan.
Sure! Not sure if I’ll be sharing it on here, though — I’m a bit wary of putting my writing on a public forum. Previously I’ve only been on private writing…[Read more]

Maya Joelle commented on the post, Should You Share the Gospel in Your Novel? 5 years, 10 months ago
I love this article! It’s something I struggle with in my own writing, and I think I tend to fall on the side of not sharing the gospel explicitly. Though I appreciate books that try to do so.
Nonfiction is definitely a better format for that than fiction (I love Chesterton’s Orthodoxy), but some fiction works succeed: I like the House of…[Read more]
