Yes, it would be fun to post updates of my wip! I will be sure to tag you if I do. I’ve been really busy lately, but I’m hoping after Christmas I will be able to get some writing done.
Greek is a lot of memorization, that’s for sure XD. I’m hoping I can survive this next semester.
That’s neat that your dad teaches church…[Read more]

Oh ok. I read all over the spectrum of pages. 🙂
But anyways, I’d say The Little Prince is my favorite short story. Do you have a favorite longer-type book?

Hobbitchild replied to the topic Hello from Lydia in the forum Introduce Yourself 5 years, 4 months ago
Lord of the Rings is the best! I recently read another medieval-y book called The False Prince. It is very well written and had me gripped (most books don’t do that to me!) However, I was disappointed by the end. I would be interested to know what you think of it! It’s part of a series, so I’m hoping to read more!

HI Lydia! Nice to meet you! I know I’m a bit late to this thread, but welcome to SE! 🙂 I love this site so much.
I’m a homeschooled senior in high school. I enjoy playing the violin, writing, hand lettering, and graphic design (especially designing book covers 😉 ) Oh, and reading of course. Can’t forget that. 😂
My current WIP is a…[Read more]

I can’t judge. 🙂
Do you have any other short stories you’d recommend? (Not necessarily that they have to be by Tolkien, though more Tolkien is great, too.)

I get that, and I’m good if you just watch uncreepily. 😛

I love that you have a sheep named after him!! That is so perfect!
It is set during the revolutionary war in America, and as best as I can tell, like 50-70 years after they leave Scotland. More or less the Revolutionary war. The first one is about Malcolm’s grandson, and Malcolm is in it, and I think Jenny might be a little bit (?) but…[Read more] -

Yes, I am! And not after the one in the movie either. (Thank goodness!) It’s a fun name to have, and I have discovered it’s the only name that could ever fit me. I’ve never met anyone else with my name, but it’s kind of fun to watch people get confused and hesitantly repeat it. Although, it’s also nice to have them immediately recognize…[Read more]-
Umm…I absolutely love Angus, too. I’m kinda hesitant to admit this, but I have a stuffed sheep named after him that always sits on my bed. (Also, agnus is Latin for “sheep,” so I feel like that fits.)
I haven’t read the Faith and Freedom trilogy, but I might have to when I have the chance. What is it about? Are Angus and Duncan,…[Read more]

If it wasn’t clear, Angus is my favorite character. 🙂 Also, have you read Douglas Bond’s Mr. Pipes books? I’ve only read a couple of those, but they’re so good.

You have a fair point about them all being very good.
Yes! I have read both Farmer Giles of Ham and The Smith Wootton Major. I liked farmer Giles of Ham best of the two, though it pretty much infuriated me. I am a very firm pacifist, and seeing how the dragon was treated was just awful. However, after a lengthy debate with a friend of…[Read more]

Thanks! (about my name, I mean)
Ah, yes, I completely get that. I always thought first drafts must look so much different from the finished product.
Well, let’s see. It’s a wee bit hard to explain, but in it’s simplest form it’s about a man in the government (in a fantasy world) poisoning an old mysterious tribe, who live s…[Read more]

This is my teaser. (:
Ancient Israel. The Romans have conquered, without force, the promised land. Spirits are dull, and on fire. Lives are full, and empty. The people long to be free. Free, but they only see the wrong kind of bondage.
So, yes. What is the premise of your writing project? If you’re sharing. It’s fine if not! (: (Great…[Read more]

Why do you follow Christ?
He is YHWH. He is my Lord, my Creator, my friend. He loves me. He lowered Himself to fit into a woman’s womb. He came to the earth, He came to die. The Breather of Stars died! He touched the ones who spat on Him. He is beautiful, and good, and just, and kind, and joy, and peace, and patience, and faithfulness, a…[Read more]

Wow! Your story sounds absolutely amazing! Epic fantasy, princesses and farm kids, it sounds just like something I would love to read.
And yeah…my first chapters don’t really make sense either, but I figure that’s part of story writing.😄

Oh haha. I like all the the super random backstory/histories that Silmarillion has, but I can see how other people would feel like they have to slog through it. *shrugs* I have weird tastes. 🙂
I can’t make super accurate judgement of the LoTR movies, since only I’ve seen each of them once, and each time I was only half-ish paying…[Read more]

Just popping in to say hi *waves*
I’m wondering what you’re WIP is about? What genre is your favorite?
Currently I’m writing a Young Adult fantasy novel (I’m on Chapter 32 or something…) about a wizard who hates wizardry, an angry prince, and (one of my favorites) a horse named Bruce, and what brings them all together toward a…[Read more]

Hey there! Welcome to story embers!
Wow, 57 chapters is still impressive, even if you have less time for writing as of late.
Ooh, a fellow LoTR fan! Have you read the Silmarillion or Beren and Luthien? If not, those would be my top recommendations.
Hope to see you around. 🙂

Ha, yeah. I have actually never seen a book like that at my library, but then again, my library is tiny and I don’t normally look for that kind of stuff. ;P However, I do keep random lists of names and use Latin as well! My Latin is just random stuff compiled into cool names, though, and I use other languages like Sudanese, Catalan,…[Read more]
