@literatureforthelight @ariella-newheart @selah-chelyah @ashira @chalice @everyone-else The funny thing is I’m writing all of these noble and fearless proclamations as I’m listening to the soundtrack of Beyond the Mask. It makes everything sound so much more epic.

Okay, people…I’m new at this so forgive me for being confused and possibly wasting your time. 😛
What does it mean by revising original scenes? I’m working on a short story right now and last night I wrote a bunch, but didn’t finish the complete scene. When I went back and looked at it this morning, I saw a bunch of things I should have added to…[Read more]

Hey guys.
So, I’m working on rewriting and expanding a short story I wrote, and I need some accountability. I’m a little afraid I’ll get into it, decide it’s not really worth writing and give up on it.
I mean, I’ve already started, and decided it wasn’t edifying, so I stopped. Then realized that I needed to work on something so I’m working on…[Read more]

Hey guys,
I forgot there was a word war this week! I’m going to need to set myself some automated reminders.
Anyway, we’re going to do the best we can. The guilds have decided to war starting today and ending Tuesday night.
This works like it always does. We write as much as we can and try to outdo everyone else!
Here’s what can count toward…[Read more]

Hey all! This is a super short story (800 words) that I’m hoping to submit to the new Havok ezine that split off from Splickety Publishing. Anyhoo, I’d LOVE feedback if ya’ll have a minute to read it quick. 😀
I think it needs a bit more in the way of stronger verbs and unique prose. I think the core is strong enough, just…[Read more]

Great job @kate and @literatureforthelight and everybody else involved. 😀 (I have to say though that Avensbeck deserved the win, I was laughing the whole time I read their entry.)
*coughs sheepishly* I’m gonna pretend I didn’t just show that much disloyalty to New Wessex. *clears throat*
Okay, can somebody explain to me how the scoring system…[Read more]

Hey guys,
I thought with our discussion of handling tricky subjects in the article realm it might be neat to discuss writing criminal types.
Here are a few questions to get us started:
- How do we write highly engaging criminals without endorsing their criminal activity?
- Can one write a criminal character just for the purposes of the plot…

I watch as the others greet this newcomer and her cute-but-pokey little friend, and can’t help but smile, in welcome, and also in joy that Grace noticed her and invited her over.
As she poured out her story, it tugged on my heart. I couldn’t understand it all from experience, but fear and I are old enemies. I did know from experience that…[Read more]

I stand still, half-hidden in the shadows. I see them gathered around a great table, laughing and talking…like one big happy family sharing secrets and speaking of things I do not understand. I am an outsider. A spectator when what I desire most is to be a participant.
Their conversation has slowed…but still they do not notice me. I pull…[Read more]

Okay so question number 1#:
How do you know if you are a writer? (it sounds really simplistic, I know)
I’ve struggled with this for a LONG time. First off, there’s like one hundred and one views out there about what makes a writer. I’ve heard and read lots of conflicting views about this: some people say anybody can be a writer, others say it’s…[Read more]

Erf, sorry I haven’t been around, all. Glad I didn’t totally miss it.
I went through the doc and made some comments. Anyone, please let me know if those comments are a good idea or if I’m all wet. @kate – can you review them Monday at all before we submit? 🙂

Okay guys, I won’t be here Saturday or Sunday, so Imma blitz the doc today and see if I can get everything ship-shape. If you have suggestions and I’m not responding, talk ’em over amongst yourselves and go ahead and do what you need to. I trust you. 😉

@kate @literatureforthelight I’m a little at a loss. I really liked Kate’s overall style and word choices, , however I agree that I liked Grace’s ending. I’m not sure which way to go at this point, but if Kate can fix that tiny oversight of the bullet-proof glass, I’d have to say hers, otherwise Grace’s. I hate to sound harsh or judgmental in any…[Read more]

Bravo! Both were well-written lots of fun 🙂
Grace, I also must applaud your ending–tying in the boy’s search with it too–bravo!
Kate, I think your prose and word-choices add to the humor, and Jason is hilarious, for sure.
