@jenwriter17 It’s really good! The only thing I can think of would to maybe spend a bit more time on the sun. Like maybe describe the warmth she can feel on her face and things like that. I don’t know, just a thought 🙂 But it is super good!
Also, @faith_blum I love when you say Avensers assemble, it sounds like Avengers assemble and th…[Read more]

Well, I have something in the document now. 🙂 I didn’t use the examples you gave me, but you got my brain going, so thank you!
@faith_blum Do you want to tag everyone so that they can take a look at what I have so far in the document?

Is there a word count limit? What’s the deadline?

It is finished now! @katherineh, thank you so much for the help! It’s good to have a fellow writer help out – massively encouraging.
No worries, I fixed that. 😉 One of the 26s was pointing to 24.
I’m glad I could entertain. Also, this was a really fun story to write, so thanks for letting me write most of it! I wish we could publish it…[Read more]

After reading @daeus-lamb‘s recent concern over his possible marketing disaster, and after reading the Writer’s Journey Plan again and noticing the mention of “platform building stuff coming soon”, I’d like to open the floor.
Because…I hate to admit this, but I still don’t know how to do this platform building stuffingans. This is coming from…[Read more]

I’m not technically done writing this one, hmm. Choose your own adventure stories have more than one ending. I was just throwing the idea out there as a start to make sure everyone else was on board. It seems that they are, so I suppose that I need to buckle down and finish.
I kinda envisioned letting anyone else add to it, though, if they…[Read more]

Hey y’all (: This has nothing to do with writing, but I wanted to ask for prayers tomorrow (Tuesday, April 30) at 3:00pm central time because my family and I (who have a southern gospel band) are going to be interviewed by Nickelodeon. They’re creating a new show (America’s Most Musical Families) and we got picked up on their radar! If we get a…[Read more]

Hi everybody!
I am hoping to become a professional editor, and was wondering whether anyone had a manuscript they wanted beta read/edited for them. I haven’t had a ton of experience, but I just wanted to offer my services!
Thanks everybody!

MyClipboardIsMyViolin replied to the topic Weekly Goals – April in the forum Accountability & Achievements 7 years, 2 months ago
*headscratch* @faith_blum Does anyone have some guidelines for goal-setting? The idea of setting a word count goal for my writing makes me feel like a space alien, since in my mind stories are built from component parts, and without the component parts in place, no magic for me. I need the freedom to think.
Today I’m approaching the problem that…[Read more]

@faith_blum I haven’t been making weekly goals recently, but I want to get back into the swing of things. I’m putting my current story online, a chapter at a time, but I’ve been letting it stall. My goal this week is to finish the second chapter and make edits, suggested by a friend, to the first.

Couldn’t agree with this more – actually, I think I’m tempted to overdo this a bit. *hides collection of photographs and journals in dark basement*
However, for those struggling getting started with writing, this is great advice for connecting with God and making Him the central focus of your work. I wish I had read an article like this years ago…[Read more]

@faith_blum This is a great article! Relating to the schedule-making that you wrote about, I tried a few weeks ago to write out and follow a personalized schedule that had everything I needed in one day on it, with some free time– to the minute. Needless to say, it didn’t work (I need a watch), but it was an interesting exercise in getting things…[Read more]

@christianna-hellwig Thank you! And thank you to everyone who has read through it.
@faith_blum I *finally* wrote and posted an ending that I do like, although it’s not quite as long as I had originally thought (I was planning to add one/two short bonding scenes between Loretta-Jane and Faith, but it’s fine without them and I don’t have time to…[Read more]

I’ve always been a little confused about the difference between alpha and beta readers, and this is a nice, clear definition. It reminds me of the work that I have yet to do on my current 2nd draft…
