*headscratch* @faith_blum Does anyone have some guidelines for goal-setting? The idea of setting a word count goal for my writing makes me feel like a space alien, since in my mind stories are built from component parts, and without the component parts in place, no magic for me. I need the freedom to think.

Today I’m approaching the problem that the current WIP I’ve decided on is lacking in theme. I intend to go to the themes forum on here and poke around. So weekly goal would be: establish a theme for the story.

Then: develop antagonist characters, since protagonist characters for the story are fantastic, but the antags could use some more work. This should help with the theme stuff too. Theme and central conflict. Let’s get something unusual in here.

(Then I get to decide on target audience which informs the word-count length of the work [i]a little bit[/i], and I do that by writing a few chapters to stretch it out. But I’m not there yet, heh.)
