Where do I start for publishing? Do I just do it after I’ve read through my novel over fifty times over four years? How much should I pay to publish indie?
Editors, are there any out there that a youth could afford? How do I find them?
Cover design. Who do I go to do that? How expensive is it to get a quality cover?
How long should…[Read more]

LOL, @lonathecat! I feel you about autocorrect and unusual words/names. I have the same problem, but what really gets me is when I’m proofreading along thinking, “All right, that’s just a name, that’s just a name…” and then later on, boom! I realize a misspelled word snuck in along with them.
As for questions, @e-k-seaver, I guess my biggest…[Read more]

@e-k-seaver, I thought you had in mind more of a “big picture” read…at least that’s what comes to my mind when I hear the term “beta reader.” Unfortunately, I don’t have the time for a line-by-line editing project right now. Sorry to disappoint!

@e-k-seaver I have beta-read once before- I’m not sure if that counts as experience or not. I have written a lot and had several people beta for me. Again, not certain if that counts.
If it does, your story sounds interesting and I’d be happy to read it. I am drowning in college assignments and fifteen million other books that I’m also reading,…[Read more]

@e-k-seaver, I can’t say I’m the world’s most experienced beta (or gamma) reader, but I have done it a few times before, and I have a fairly good sense of what it takes to make a story a good one. Yours looks interesting–a little different than what I’ve tried before. If you want, I’d be happy to give it a shot. Would you be willing to beta read…[Read more]

If you’re comfortable and interested enough in that, let me know and I’ll fill out your beta application. Have a good night!

@e-k-seaver Hey, I saw your beta request thread. I have a lot of critique experience and could have your critique finished by the required date. I’d need you to be able to commit to critiquing about 90-100K of a trilogy of fantasy novellas after I was done with your critique, though. Before I go into any more detail, is that something you’d be…[Read more]

Yes, I do believe it is something I’m able and willing to devote time toward– however, could you provide me with more information on your stories before I commit to anything?

@taylorclogston, not sure if you could see that last message without me tagging you.

Hey everyone!
I’m so excited to start using this site! I’ve been reading the SE blog since it first started but didn’t join the forum for various reasons. At last, I have arrived 🙂
I’m a teen writer, bookdragon, dreamer, poet, forest girl, Griffinclaw, and knight of Farthestshore (hoping someone gets that reference…) from Michigan. I started…[Read more]

So, basically an art trade is where we trade characters we’ve drawn.. So, we trade our art! It’s just a fun way to see what your character looks like in someone else’s art style!
You could attach a drawing of your character to a reply, and I’ll attach a drawing of mine! Then, we draw the other person’s OC.
Also, a quick…[Read more]

Cool, thanks for the links! I’m definitely going to look into the functions more.
That’s so interesting! I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks!
😂 Don’t worry, I get what you’re saying, so it doesn’t sound terrible. Haha!
Ohh that makes so much sense! I didn’t think of it that way, but it totally makes sense.

First off, sorry it took me so long to reply! I’m not on here very often. XP
Thanks for the information! I think I get it, but this is one of the first times hearing of the cognitive functions.
Ni and Si are both introverted, but the difference is intuitive vs sensing, right? So I need to narrow him down to one of those?

@e-k-seaver R.M. Archer puts up some super useful priming questions and pointers for world building. I’d like to take a crack at answering and see if there’s anywhere I can go into a little more depth. I’ve been inventing and running D&D campaigns fora good few years and so have had a lot of hands-on practice with a live audience (players) in…[Read more]
