@daeus-lamb @jane-maree @ericawordsmith @taylorclogston @hope-ann
Okay… in my last post I laid out an argument that theme is often misrepresented. I then put forth a definition for what theme is, defining it by the plot, characters, their arcs, and the intricate patterns of the character interactions in a world.
But halfway through writing t…[Read more]

@msqueen8 thanks, that’s great advice! I’ve prayed for it generally, but never before anticipated conversations. That’s a really good idea.
@piperbee first of all, welcome to New Wessex! I don’t believe we’ve officially met. 😉 And yes, that’s definitely another big one. It can be hard to realize God can use you just as you are, before you’ve…[Read more]

🙂 Thanks for this post, it’s a good reminder. Although since I don’t live alone, I’m subconsciously being held to a standard that keeps me responsible for my other duties aside from writing. Keeps me balanced, things would be a little different if I lived alone. 🙂
But actually right now my biggest struggle to be healthy has…[Read more]

Hi lovely Saxon Scribes. ‘Tis I, emerging from hyperspace like the Millenium Falcon with a blown hyperdrive and three dozen Tie-fighters on her tail.
Have I been watching The Force Awakens? Yes I have.
Seeing as this month’s theme is writing lifestyle, I thought this would be a great time to have a Mutual Encouragement Moment. We all have…[Read more]

Ahhhh… yes. A respectable question indeed. And one that I believe was (at least partly) in response to things I have said before. So first, please know that I write this with a smile upon my face. I love seeing this conversation hashed out, because it’s something that I’ve thought about, and look forward to getting deeper into. Not…[Read more]

The Fledgling Artist started the topic DESPERATE 4 CRITIQUE in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 6 months ago
Hello writer friends. It is I, the fledgling artist, AKA the wannabe-writer. I have next to no writing experience and have written next to no things. Literally. So.. This is me, mustering up every ounce of discipline and bravery I have. I wrote a (short) thing, and I’m asking for critique. I need to know some things, guys.
1. How bad am I…[Read more]

Thanks all! I’ll look into those soon.
@evelyn Yep, that’s all I could think of too. xD I’m kind of surprised this sort of setting isn’t more common, but I guess it’s not the most natural place for conflict. It’s perfect for my story’s themes though.

Hello everyone!
Have any of you read (or heard of) any speculative fiction that is set shortly after the overlord/government has been defeated? @daeus-lamb For me it’s something I wouldn’t dare to do. But I agree with you on the scripture point. If we were to write God in a story we have to stay close to His word. 😊
