@sageinthemeadow, Yay!! Happy to have you along. π
First day in and I’m already behind. π I might just have to do Inktober a month late because of how busy this month is for our family. But I’ll still be here to cheer the rest of you on. π
@deeprun, Wow! That is amazing! Your shading looks awesome. Is this digital?

@bama-rose, Yes, that’ll work for me as well. π Is there a certain time when you want us to do the reveal? Like all in one day? Or does it matter?

@bama-rose, Ah!! Congratulations on getting your book published! That is so exciting!! π *offers you Chinese takeout, because virtual food seems to be the thing on this thread* XD (Wait, do you like Chinese food? π )
I’m not on Facebook, but I wouldn’t mind doing a cover reveal on my blog, if you want. π

Hello friends! What’s up?
October is coming up and I was wondering, is anyone else is doing Inktober this year? I’ve never done it before, and the month of October is going to be pretty busy for my family, but I would still really like to try.

@bigideaskc, *raises hand* I love the first HTTYD movie but did not like the 2nd or 3rd ones as much. *lowers hand* So I don’t know if I count as a fan.
As for your question, here’s something I found online that was helpful:
Reserve hyphens for the naturally hyphenated cardinal number:
eight forty-five; five fifteen; three thirty
But add a…

@hope-mcclellan, another late one here. XP Welcome to Story Embers (though you’ve probably been here a while already)! I would ask what kind of stories you like to write, but you’ve already said, so would you mind me asking what your current WIP is about? π
Ah, I love ASL! It’s such an expressive language. Have you studied Hebrew much? Just…[Read more]

@dekreel, Well, it does look like someone running, so that’s good. π The thing that stood out to me, though, was that it looks like the person’s right elbow should be a little bit lower and their right fist a bit further out from their body…. if that makes sense.

@evelyn, Hey Evelyn! Not sure if I can help much here. I was never very interested in watercolors, until recently. (Now I’m like, ahh! I want to try watercolor so bad! but I still haven’t looked into that a lot.) For acrylics, though, I would recommend Lee Hammond’s books. She has several books on acrylics, and they were really helpful for me.…[Read more]

@kayla-skywriter, Hi Kayla. I don’t think we’ve met yet. So…. Hey, I’m Chalice. π
I don’t know if I can give much advice about dealing with constructive criticism, since I’m still learning myself, but I can assure you that you are not alone. I always get super nervous letting others read my work. π And then, YES! I always get so stressed out…[Read more]

Hey guys!
I’m doing some work on this story I wrote for Havok, and I was wondering if y’all would mind taking a look at it and giving me a critique. π I would be very grateful! Here’s the link: In His Arms

@w-o-holmes, Yeah, as much as I enjoy saxophone, piano is still like my “first love”. XD
Wow, that’s so neat! How do you learn about stuff like that?

@w-o-holmes, Ah, that’s awesome. I love playing soundtrack! Do you play any ragtime?
Saxophone is one of the best instruments out there. (Yes, I’m unashamedly biased. π ) I really enjoy it because it’s a wind instrument, so it’s almost like singing, in a way.Β It’s not too heavy (it weighs about seven pounds), but it would be no easy task to try…[Read more]

@w-o-holmes, Oh, neat! Fantasy is one of my favorite genres to write too. Man, that would be a sad dream, but that’s cool that you were inspired by it! I always love it when I have a dream that can be turned into a story like that.
That’s so cool that you play piano and guitar! I play piano too, and saxophone in our church worship band. What kind…[Read more]
