Thanks for sending those through π
They are really good, but aren’t quite the style I’m looking for. Please pass on my thanks though to your sister for drawing them xD Thanks heaps for asking tho π

@mayacat *looks over list of things you like* *nods* I think we shall get along.
Konnichiwa! *cough* Sorry. Hello! (Japanese is a random obsession of mine.)
Sorry, as soon as you mentioned breaking the fourth wall, my first thought was Kirat. I’ve gotten to know him pretty well here and have enjoyed sitting back and being amused at both him and…[Read more]

@katthewriter Thanks! What part of writing did I miss?
@caseybold Thank you! Glad to hear it caught your interest. Would you mind sharing the mechanical mistakes? And thanks for the reading out loud advice! It’s a fantastic technique.

Oooh cool…well, my aim is to have illustrations that tell the story before you read the words. I’ve included a couple of pictures from a kids’ book that I love the illustrations for, and are the style I’m wanting. That would be really cool, thanks π

Cool xD *thumbs up*
Your novel sounds really interesting too, btw π
No sadly, I don’t possess the natural gift of illustrating lol π
I’m trying to find an illustrator for my story at the moment, but it can be hard finding someone who can draw the style I’m imagining in my head xD
Do you illustrate your books?

Cool…I love historical fiction xD
Oh wow…that’s so cool π
Whereabouts have you had them published?
Aww thanks…what is your novel about, if you don’t mind me asking? π

Hey, @caseybold! Thanks for the welcome! Yes, violin is beautiful…once you get the hang of it. Beginners donβt always sound that great! 😉😁
My story is one Iβve been rolling around in my head for a few years so I probably have too many character at this point. It started as a character-building skit for Sunday school kids. The basic premise is…[Read more]

@caseybold @joshuapior *randomly jumps in*Β Heeey, I love languages, too! π I dipped my toes VERY briefly into Korean, but was scared off by the “pronouncing OOH ten different ways” factor! 😅 I’m into Japanese myself right now. It only has five vowel sounds, which I greatly appreciate! I can handle the crazy “three different alphabets” bit a lot…[Read more]

@caseybold that’s fascinating, I never knew any of that. It makes perfect sense. I guess that means that your signature is Emily Dickinson’s quote in Korean, then?

@caseybold gotta say learning Korean sounds ambitious! I studied French and Spanish at different times in high school, but I’m not conversational in either (especially by now).
Asian languages always seemed like a much tougher hurdle to me, since you have to learn not only the words themselves, but also a new alphabet and syntax as well. I’m…[Read more]

All that sounds good to me π I was also picking up on similar threads in the posts of all four of us, so I’m glad I wasn’t the only one!
The one thought I would add is that it might be best to have this in a Hangouts group (if everyone is alright using Google Hangouts.) The Story Embers forum is public, and while there’s nothing wrong…[Read more]

Six moves in five years is pretty crazy 😂 It can be fun to move to other states, but six times is definitely a lot haha. I’ve never traveled outside of the US either (unless you count the Canadian side of Niagra Falls). My travel experience is limited to having visited most of the continental…[Read more]

@deeprun – I definitely agree with your concept of friendship and shared experience. In this case, we’d all be writers, which is already a plus because my non-virtual friends aren’t writers either and aren’t able to understand a lot of things. Hence why I’ve preserved my reputation as a sane person and haven’t told them about my fantasy novels. xD…[Read more]

@caseybold I’ve found it in different places. I haven’t been a part of an ongoing critique group that has met my needs, but I have found some wonderful beta readers and writing mentors who have been a huge help. So mainly, I’ve just come across helpful people in different places. The organized critique groups I have been a part of didn’t really…[Read more]

I’ve been around in the online writing community for over three years now, and I still haven’t really figured it out myself π
