• Hey, since this group is new, I want to know what y’all are writing. If you could describe your WIP by merging the concepts of two existing mysteries (i.e. “My novel is North by Northwest meets Doctor Who—I know, neither of which is a novel), what would they be?

  • @vic Welcome to the forum from its other newest member 🙂

I’m so glad you want to write middle-grade fiction—that’s one of the most underdeveloped genres in Christian fiction. Have you written any other stories before, or will this be your first?

  • Really insightful post, Maddie. I’ve never heard someone put it into so many words, but it makes perfect sense! Do you think every story should have a villain? Or is an antagonist sometimes enough on its own?

  • joshuapior replied to the topic Hey hey in the forum Introduce Yourself 2 years ago

@elisha-starquill Yes, I’ve seen most of the US through road trips and frequent movings 😂 I really loved visiting Vermont—definitely the prettiest state in New England. California is always a favorite of mine too, politics and traffic aside.

Sweet, another Peretti fan! I feel like I always get blank stares when I mention his books, so it’s aweso…[Read more]

@caseybold that’s fascinating, I never knew any of that. It makes perfect sense. I guess that means that your signature is Emily Dickinson’s quote in Korean, then?

  • joshuapior replied to the topic Hey hey in the forum Introduce Yourself 2 years ago

@caseybold gotta say learning Korean sounds ambitious! I studied French and Spanish at different times in high school, but I’m not conversational in either (especially by now).

Asian languages always seemed like a much tougher hurdle to me, since you have to learn not only the words themselves, but also a new alphabet and syntax as well. I’m…[Read more]

@morreafirebird Anything by Frank E Peretti is a big win for me. I hate picking favorites, but if I did, he’d top the list as an author. I’ve been expanding my palette with YA lately, reading a lot of books like I Am Number Four, Unwind, Dear Evan Hansen, Mortal Engines … It’s not a genre I’ve read extensively in before, but it’s been…[Read more]

@deeprun that’s an awesome idea. I had no clue there was an art page, I’ll be checking it out!

  • joshuapior replied to the topic Hey hey in the forum Introduce Yourself 2 years ago

@deeprun yeah, digital is tricky! Although the fact that you’re a traditional artist first means you have a huge advantage over those who started in digital. I tend to see digital as just another medium, so if you have a solid understanding of how to paint or draw physically, you’re already ahead of the game in digital work. What have been your…[Read more]

@caseybold thanks so much! Nice to meet you too.

Six moves in five years is pretty crazy 😂 It can be fun to move to other states, but six times is definitely a lot haha. I’ve never traveled outside of the US either (unless you count the Canadian side of Niagra Falls). My travel experience is limited to having visited most of the continental…[Read more]

@morreafirebird you have no idea how happy I am that you spent an hour on my blog. To think it’s worth an hour of your time is an honor, really.

Jeune Authors been going for almost a year, now (gasp!). My goal is to connect with other similar blogs and begin reaching a broader reader base, but for now it’s pretty small 🙂

@elisha-starquill I was going to say thanks for the welcome, but then I noticed you were a Chocolate Hater and now I’m wondering whether you’re even human … jk 😂

That’s cool that you’re into art as well! What kind of things have you been drawing? To answer your question, I’m currently fascinated with concept art—especially in film—and my s…[Read more]

@deeprun hi, thanks for the welcome! To answer your question, motion graphics design is the creation of animated elements for video like titles, infographics, logos, and even characters. The work I do usually involves product or text graphics, but I’ve gotten a chance to do a lot of animated characters as well!

Hey @urwen-starial. I write adventure fiction within whatever genre strikes my fancy. Lately, I’ve been developing a YA thriller that has heavy urban fantasy elements, which has been stretching me quite a bit. Thrillers fascinate me, but actually writing them is a new area for me that I’m having fun exploring. What about you?

  • joshuapior started the topic Hey hey in the forum Introduce Yourself 2 years ago

I’m tempted to just leave a link to my “About” page and duck into the next room. (Talking about myself has never been a strong suit and I’ve already worn out my backspace key just on this one post.)

But I should be polite, so here’s a little about me:

    • I’ve been a writer since birth. Like literally, the nurse found a pen in my tiny baby hands…
