      @joelle-stone well I can’t speak for any school other than mine, but the kids there are so indifferent and choose to care about nothing other than that which satisfies their carnal appetites, which is my fancy way of saying if your interested in anything productive, artistic, or related to making something of beauty, you will probably be met with indifference and a  general feeling that they couldn’t care less. Not many people are interested in writing, art, good music, or poetry these days.

      As far as enemies go, I think you’d be hard pressed to make them, because unless you really step on toes, kids are just bored with life, and have nothing to love for greater than themselves, because the vast majority aren’t saved.

        @crazywriter

        YES IT SOUNDS SOOO INTERESTING!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I’m going to turn caps lock off now lol

        @joelle-stone

        Whelp *also butting into conversation* I can tell you that I certainly didn’t have a hard time making plenty of enemies at my skating rink. Actually, enemies is not the right word for it. People who ignore me with a passion because they don’t like me for no particular reason. If they were fighting me and insulting me, I’d have not problem with it. But getting ignored…

        The extrovert in me hates it.

            no I haven’t watched the movies. I like to look at pictures from them occasionally, but I don’t think I’d like watching them. What’s your favorite character (book or movie)? Legolas and Aragorn are a tie for me, with Faramir coming in second.

            @denali-christianson

            YES! I’m reading FotR and book-clubing RotK! where are you at in RotK? Did you start at the beginning, or are you just re-reading the third one?

              @crazywriter,

              Wow. That’s… sad. *decides to go and give ’em a piece of my writerly mind XDDD*

              As far as enemies go, I think you’d be hard pressed to make them, because unless you really step on toes, kids are just bored with life, and have nothing to love for greater than themselves, because the vast majority aren’t saved.

              EXACTAMUNDO!!! *coughs* I mean, that’s what makes me really passionate about public schools – from what I’ve heard, so much of your “happiness” depends on popularity, or if you’re dating/who you’re dating, if you do sports, etc. There seems to be a lot of smoking and drugs and talking about suicide. Honestly, I think a lot of public schoolers forget to go outside and smell the roses once in a while, y’know? Then again, I’ve never gone to a public school for more than one class, so I’m most CERTAINLY not an expert. 😉

              PLUS there are so many who haven’t even heard about God or, if they have, don’t believe that he loves them, or that he’s powerful enough to save them, or that he even exists. A couple girls in my youth group once went around their school putting up sticky notes that said “Jesus loves you”, and a kid went around behind them pulling them down. 🙁

              And as for the enemies, yep, I’d be planning on stepping on toes. Which would probably get me in a lot of trouble. *scolds my tongue for speaking before I think about it*

              so how’s life going for you? Anything new come up?

              Erm, not much. I’ve started driving, which is… interesting. XD I also joined a really cool writing program called The Young Writer’s Workshop – it’s very helpful if you’re serious about writing. Both you and Denali should check it out!! What about you? How is the flying going?

              #1 OOH YOU SKATE?!?! COOLNESS!! What kind of skating do you do? #2 Aw, sorry to hear that. :/

              Actually, enemies is not the right word for it. People who ignore me with a passion because they don’t like me for no particular reason. If they were fighting me and insulting me, I’d have not problem with it. But getting ignored…

              Yeah, that’s rough. Hey, maybe you can buy them chocolate and anonymously drop it in their shoes or pockets or something sometime. 😛

              The extrovert in me hates it.

              Does this mean you’re an extroverted writer, or an introverted extrovert writer? XD

              @emily-waldorf
              ,

              You should – they’re pretty good, aside from some of the goriness. Don’t watch the Hobbit though, unless you’re ok with a completely different story. *frowns at Hobbit movies* And OOF fav. characters are so hard!! Um… for both movies and books Aragorn and Sam are a tie. Sam’s so loyal and sweet and simple, but Aragorn is my typical-favorite-character-trope of serious, grim, handy with a sword, and secretly a pretty important human being. 😛 I like Faramir in the books pretty well, but not so much the movies. *shrugs* Legolas… he’s ok, I guess. I used to like him a lot, but he’s been replaced by Sam. 😛

                have you seen Tolkien? It’s honesty one of my favorite movies.

                Contrary to popular opinion, I actually loved the Hobbit movies, and while I realize they are completely different than the book, if you can take them at face value they are awesome. In my mind

                @joelle-stone
                yeah I agree. So many kids nowadays are focused on drugs or suicide, or whatever they want, but it just seems that when they hear about God, they see nothing they would want or need, because they see themselves completely self-sufficient. The problem is, here in the south, so many will say they are saved without actually being saved and so they think they have no need for a savior.

                fortunately, we know that if God wants them saved, he’ll change their minds!! 🙂

                  @crazywriter,

                  have you seen Tolkien? It’s honesty one of my favorite movies.

                  Gaaah, no!! I keep wanting to (we even have it at the house at the moment ’cause I wanted to watch it), but it’s apparently it’s not a little-kid friendly movie, so I have to find a time when my younger siblings won’t be watching and when it’s my turn to pick. It’s on the list! Is it good? Is there anything (content wise – like cursing, gore, inappropriate scenes/comments, etc.) in it?

                  Contrary to popular opinion, I actually loved the Hobbit movies, and while I realize they are completely different than the book, if you can take them at face value they are awesome. In my mind

                  Really? *surprised look* I think they’re really good apart from the book, but I honestly like the book’s story better. The only unpopular opinion I hold about it is that I think the writers did a good job with Tauriel. I really really wish they hadn’t added Legolas, though. *scowls* So, I suppose they’re good movies if you look at it as Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit instead of Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Does that even make sense? XDD

                  So many kids nowadays are focused on drugs or suicide, or whatever they want, but it just seems that when they hear about God, they see nothing they would want or need, because they see themselves completely self-sufficient.

                  Aw. 🙁 That’s really sad.

                  Oof, that’s a really dangerous place to be. *doesn’t know what else to say*

                  (That makes me curious: where do you live? If you can’t answer, no problem. ;))

                  fortunately, we know that if God wants them saved, he’ll change their minds!!

                  *perks up again* YUPPERDOODLE!! We just get to watch. *grins*

                    part of my hobbit movie enjoyment is because tho I’ve read LOTR i haven’t read the hobbit so yeah.

                      Ooh, that makes sense. I watched both movies before I read the books, but when you’re a writer, you kinda got to admire the books… 😛 Honestly, I don’t think the movies took anything out – they just added stuff, probably to make it 9 hrs. long. XD

                      @crazywriter

                        So I remembered your question about Tolkien. It’s a clean movie for the most part, other than the fact that one guy is perhaps what one would call a ‘man of the world’ and he’s also an artist so you could see some paintings that may or may not have scantily clad figures but it’s hard to make out and nothing explicit at all other than a brief glance at his aforementioned paintings. There’s some kissing but nothing other than that.

                        I can’t remember any excessive profanity, maybe one or two bad words here and there.

                        in terms of violence and gore, I am a avid war movie watcher and to me, while the carnage was there, it was light. It doesn’t go into the horrors of war too much, just shows a little.

                        overall I highly recommend it, but I don’t want you to watch it and not like it or maybe I forgot to tell you something about it and you be like ‘oh man, Peters such a jerk!’

                        so I guess, while I highly liked it, and would recommend it, watch if and only if you want to, so I don’t feel bad if you don’t like it

                                YES, SAM!! he’s an amazing character. Do you have a favorite quote and/or moment/event in LotR? If I had to choose it might be the battle of the Pelennor Fields, but I can’t choose!!

                                @crazywriter
                                , no I haven’t seen the movies. I don’t really want to, either. You like them though?

                                Also, I am so proud of this name I just recently made up for a character who just walked into my story! Lanian D’Artos He’s 46-ish, and a physician. Do you  all make up names for your characters?

                                  @emily-waldorf That is an extremely cool name! I do make up names for mine, but mine are hardly that good. I think maybe my best is Alerion (Uhl-Ear-E-uhn)

                                  which bring me to my next question. Anybody have suggestions for a name for a evil warlord whose sword is forged from the blood of his enemies?
