I could not figure out Aydin. One second he was preventing a fight, the next he seemed ready for one, and then he was disbelieving on the point if condescending, and now he was sympathetic and either crazy or traumatized as his listening to a noise that didn’t exist proved.
He’s absolutely correct, honestly. XD Aydin is such a social chameleon I sometimes have trouble figuring out what his actual personality is.
I noticed that his right(?) hand was stiff.

“It’s not too bad, just horrible timing really,” Khalon said. “My ability has gotten me into nothing but…uncomfortable situations though it can be a little helpful.”
He paused as though remembering and I frowned, trying to assess what he was thinking. Khalon seemed… well, naive. I somehow got the idea he hadn’t seen a lot of dangerous situations in his life.
(I don’t know whether this is actually true but that’s his perception XD)
He continued rambling, which further confirmed my suspicion that he hadn’t learned the lesson never to miss a good chance to keep your mouth shut.
“For once I was glad I had it when I dropped into this place and was immediately threatened, but now it’s gone, and I’m now stuck with a horn. Oh, and sorry about the noise it made. My horn playing skills are, well, you heard me play,” he interrupted himself.
I shrugged. The noise had been horrible but it was over now.
“Do you have any special skills?” he asked, as an afterthought.
I smiled, wryly. I had a lot of answers to that.
“I seem to have a gift for making enemies, otherwise, no,” I said, sarcastically. My other gifts included not dying in circumstances where I absolutely should have died, to everyone’s annoyance including my own.
Khalon shot me a dubious look. He seemed as uncomfortable as I was. I was just hiding it better. Hopefully. Still, he didn’t seem to dislike me, he was just unsure. He would probably start disliking me pretty soon. I hadn’t told him I was an assassin, but he’d find out soon enough. I wasn’t looking forward to that.

I guess Khalon hasn’t really been in any life threatening situations at least probably not like the ones Aydin has been in.

Okay, so clearly that was the wrong thing to ask. Maybe I should stop asking questions about him. Most people liked to talk about themselves, but Aydin was obviously an exception.
“So, how long have you been in this place? And which people should I try to not upset?” I asked, choosing to ignore his “I’m good at making abilities.”
@mamaauthoress ooh nice! He looks a lot softer and sweeter than i first imagined him! But he still looks very unapproachable (in the best way possible)
Is the girl his betrothed?
Also, @rose-colored-fancy discovered something very interesting about Basil that could be important for his interactions with Ruan! Apparently Basil has autism. I say apparently because I never actually intended for that to be a part of his character, but it’s so uncannily accurate that it is now 😂 especially his horrible social awareness, but also his observations about the climate in the lab and the “thin and scratchy” texture of his lab uniform. I’m super excited though, because this just put his whole character into context
Except for the incessant whining. That’s just him being an annoying little brat lol
I feel bad because a lot of his development has been occuring outside the character castle, so you guys have been stuck with his incredibly annoying, out of context version lol

Oh gosh my characters look so smol XD They’re not really but everyone is so ridiculously tall XD LOL imagine how 5-foot-nothing Faye would look there XD She’d get squished XD

It was the funniest conversation XD We were just discussing headcanons and something clicked and I said something like “I’m pretty sure it’s unintentional but Basil is a lot of things and neurotypical is definitely not one of them” XD
It was awesome since it wasn’t even a headcanon, it was just there all along XD

He could have a completely happy and normal childhood and be completely average in every aspect and he’d still be a b r a t. It’s part of his DNA.
