From what I hear it’s really good, but then again I haven’t used it. I may this time around assuming…Parents
But considering the price, I’d say an entire Facebook group and a library of content is worth it. Heck I’d pay just for the group.
I’m pretty sure @josiah is involved there, as well as other users on SE.

Wait one second, they killed someone to gain an unusual amount of emotion. There’s got to be something in the rulebook about that…
Congratulations, Avensbeck! I loved your story.

@raemarie I think it looks really good, but I may not be the person to be giving critique advice quite yet…But I think maybe you should have the “Without the rightful heir” line after the “Once she was through the wall” line. the topics of the three sections seem a tad split up whereas it should be just two sections.
Maybe like so

@millenium-m I breathe ice. I’m of the Drake race which means there are many of us…Thundervians, Pyronians, Cyrunians, Terravians…The Thundervians are the ones you need to watch out for. They big.
Yeah. we don’t have a friend option. We have some sub-par web developers…
I joke, their developers are amazing, whoever they were.

@millenium-m *deadpan*Welcome to Story Embers…Your platform for meeting people who write stories, I guess…
I didn’t know you knew HTML. I think that first one didn’t work out properly for some reason…I stopped using HTML in posts cause I kept embarrassing myself XD (also, CSS doesn’t seem to be supported…Bummer)

@salome01w4g (Oh boy, that’s going to be a fun tag 🙂 )
I found two good options that I use sometimes to prevent myself from going back.
1. Take the mouse’s thumbdrive out of the PC.
2. Put something hard and flat over the trackpad if you have one and tape it down.
Voila. Can’t move the cursor. Just use the arrow keys to go back and fix…[Read more]

@kate I think this new version is much more natural.
Also along the lines of the “I have dirt” line, I think no matter which way the reader takes it it still sounds amusing, whether they think it means he has dirt to lose (which could further strengthen his unwillingness to take a bath) or just a way of saying he’s dirty.
I’ve also heard…[Read more]

@kate I think the first part of that scene is fine, but maybe if he’s not as ‘up-nosed’ about it, per se? Specifically in the part where he says ‘I still don’t see why it has to be me” I’m thinking one of two things, maybe
“What do you mean, vitally important?” (messing up the word vitally or important or both?)
Or
“But they’re just gern-ups,…[Read more]

1. Easily, I would say. Any time a kid in a story says “Guvna”, “Jes”, or anything along the lines of a typicall Dickens child accent their voice is automatically engaging, plus the way the narration was used, especially when he would reference large words, was great.
2. When he talked about being ‘affected’ by soot.
3. Marvelous. He…[Read more]

@taaka-merespinner Welcome to Emberia! I’m Samuel, lover of music, writing, and cheese.
I’m also an Aetherlighter, I’m Draekaan_Lightbrick on the forums, though I don’t come around much.
You spelled all your words correctly, besides Fahrenheit lol 😉 but even I have trouble with that one! 😀

Samuel started the topic Transformational Storytelling in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
This morning I had the privilege of watching a limited-time video from bestselling author Ted Dekker. He talks about writing transformational stories, stories that go beyond characterization, plot or descriptions, though those have their place. I transcribed as much of the video as I could for you guys, but I missed like the last 3 minutes. I also…[Read more]

Samuel replied to the topic Epilogue in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
@parker I think an epilogue is generally a segue into the next book, if there will be a next book. It’s typically not included in the main plot, as in it wouldn’t be part of your denouement. It would be “After the dialogue”—Something extra. If it’s still part of the story you should leave it as a chapter.

@kate Let’s go for it. I like what @literatureforthelight and @noahlitle said about a potential mental disorder or just the fact that the boy has a tendency to see things in his mind, or maybe the pixie is real but he’s the only one who can see it or something like that.
Also are we just writing one Scene(capital S), as in action(goal, conflict…[Read more]

@kate I think I like both ideas. What if the pixies were hostile toward sweeps because of how they were treated, somewhat like roaches, but the boy was kind to them? But then he befriends a pixie who is mistreated by the other pixies just as the boy is mistreated by the other sweeps, and she knows of the assassination plot but the others don’t…[Read more]

Samuel replied to the topic Well motivated antagonists in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 11 months ago
I think the main difference between an antagonist and villain is that an antagonist should be lovable just as much as the protagonist…You should be able to make the reader care about him and the protagonist equally. The reader should have to question which character they’d rather have die in a fight or when they’re both at the edge of a volcano.…[Read more]
