Actually really enjoyed Ted Dekker’s The Creative Way course, which is in the box at the top. There are 3 books inside it.
I haven’t actually sent any of the kid’s stuff out for publication. Just wanted to publish an adult book first so that I didn’t get pigeon-holed or dismissed for writing a particular genre. I like an…[Read more]

@noah-cochran
Hi Noah!I have been writing on and off for over [mmrmpher (indecipherable mumbling)] years. I have a full library of writing craft books. I have taken college courses on creative writing, acting & directing [made A’s], attended virtual online seminars, (have yet to go to an actual physical writers conference), watched videos on the…[Read more]

Okay,…so, I kinda…sorta…perhaps, cheated a little with my prior post.
But someone wanted to see some dramatic action and swords, so I took the only recording I had of an advanced chapter, done by the computer voice.
I have part of the story in my own voice, but all of the other advanced chapters recorded for the full first two books…[Read more]

Cathy,
[knuckles forehead for pressing submit too early.]
That picture is awesome. Did you do that?
Excellent work. He looks rather melancholy. A sadness about him.
Are you going to add him into the “Completely…Character Game”? [Cannot bring myself to refer to it by its original title, because it has been anything but “useless”.] -

Welcome back, Cathy!

Catch your breath, now! Daylight savings time was back in Spring,…might want to rewind that watch. [winks]

Brian Stansell started the topic Examples of How You Use Subtext in the forum Contemporary Fiction Writers 5 years, 2 months ago
I love the idea of things hidden below the surface. Of mysterious buried treasures, and ways to implant certain words or innuendos that have either a dual meaning or are indicative of an even larger mystery lurking beneath the surface action of the story.
I was interested in how each of you uses the concept of subtext in your personal writing,…[Read more]

HI Erynne,
Oh, definitely! Yes! If you are just starting out, in the preliminary drafts, you have to put “Mr. (or Mrs.) Ick” in a box, or lock it in a closet and dump clothes over him/her to muffle the sounds of his/her protest at being kept from being allowed to criticize your writing. Critiques come later, and only when they have b…[Read more]

Hi Natalie,
I think a lot of us here are sort of co-mentoring in a way, rather than serving as a dedicated mentor. Seems like that sort of thing might best be done by seeking a published author who writes the kinds of stories you wish to write or has been around a while and knows something more experiential about the business. T…[Read more]

Sorry, I did not intend it to sound like “force of necessity”. It is always a pleasure hearing and interacting with your very fine craft! I just had so many other demands on my time during the past few days (this annoying thing called my job, and sundry other “household” responsibilities) that I wasn’t able to get through the corresponding…[Read more]

I’m so sorry, I might have been vague in my last reply. *Facepalm* I always appreciate all your kind comments!
I was trying to say that I was good at switching between the character voices because I had to do it a lot in that piece.
Absolutely no worries, life gets busy every now and then.
I’m sorry writers’ block has been plaguing you, I hope it…[Read more]

That sounds great, Noah! I would recommend Rumble over Y-Tube, though. There are nefarious things going on there. I personally use WordPress (the free version, for now.) I have no ideas what Ads might be plaguing anyone going there, but I have waited to upgrade until my WIP is complete. Kinda keeping under the radar for now while I run through…[Read more]

Hi Neasa! You’ve got a nice anime vibe going there. Very well done!
You all are so very talented! I am amazed, challenged, and I love interacting with all of you and seeing your gifts on display and be celebrated.
So, I will try my guesses.

Hi Cathy,
I do love that picture of the bucket and the “mind editor”. Wish my printer worked and I would do exactly what @rose-colored-fancy wants to do.
I minored in art and design in college, but I have not drawn any of my WIP characters. I did collect some concept photos for Maeven and young Miray, but they were s…[Read more]

Hi Noah,
One thing I learned through the “snow-pocalypse” week 😜 here in Texas, was what happens when a man goes a full week without a shower (since we had no water or electricity).
My hair is between fine and coarse. That is one thing. Naturally, dark hair is more coarse. Blonde hair is thinner. (I mean on a single hair basis.) The volume…[Read more]

Very glad to hear you are over it. I think the taste and smell issue is one of those things that linger but will come back. Hang in there. Praying for your full recovery.
Hey, perhaps all those things your parents said were good for you, but they tasted yucky, you can now eat until you HAVE to taste them. 😛 (Just a humorous thought, to make the…[Read more]-
I’ve been trying to get up at a good time each morning and write for a while, and then whenever else I have time. College and school is about to start up so it’s going to get tough. I’m about 32k words into my WIP, working on chapter ten right now.
I do not have a website, but I’m considering making a youtube channel or website to talk about…[Read more]
