I have no idea what Hugon means. xD It’s interesting that you mention that, do you find the meanings of all your characters’ names? Also, many of the names in my book I literally made up by trying letters together in my head. So…I suppose I can make up their meanings too? xD
The high middles ages is my favorite, so…[Read more]

Oh, I watch some BookTube too! I especially like Merphy Napier, though I have watched some others. I’ve found it to be a great help in picking out common flaws in books and getting some other opinions from people who read different genres.
Merphy is easily one of my favorites. 🙂 Her Dear Author series was awesome, I actually took a bunch of n…[Read more]

Okay, you just stirred up an unreasonable amount of jealousy in me. xD I definitely need to try that someday. Learning basic medieval combat has always been on my lists of things I really want to do.

Wait, she’s doing what? Medieval hand to hand sword stuff?
What is Cathy talking about? I need to here this. Medieval combat is on my list. xD

I’ve had a reader tell me a certain scene needed heavy rework, then come back to it later believing I fixed it, then give me glowing praise for my rework.
Despite, you know, that I didn’t touch it at all.
That’s hilarious man. 😂
If you’d like to take me up on that, you can send me your manuscript and any of your beta quest…

If I create a story and characters and I cause one character to steal from another, or cause one to murder another, is it sin for me to cause those characters to sin? No, because I created the thing stolen, I created the characters’ lives, and therefore I have authority to manage those creations as I know will shape the story to its proper e…

Hey, hey my friends, today, I would like to confess something: One of my beta readers died from over exposure to internal conflict. xD Jk, the reader is fine, but my writer’s conscience is not. 😄
I’ve ran into a noticeable problem in my writing, and that is the way I’m trying to show my internal conflict. I want what my characters are going…[Read more]

HEH?!!? *whirls on Rose* WHY MUST I HEAR THIS FROM ANOTHER?!?!?!
You must, and now I shall tout her praises all the more. 😉
And, OH, I learned a brilliant tip from @this-is-not-an-alien !!
She taught me to go into each chapter and write down everything I have planned out in my head, like an outline, and t…

Thanks man! I’m glad my thoughts are at least somewhat interesting. 🙂
I’m sure there are many people who disagree with you, but I think several would concede that more conflict at least makes a story better, but conflict being omnipresent is not necessarily always needed for a good story.
I’d take the conservative and de…

@r-m-archer and @this-is-not-an-alien (because I don’t want Cathy to take my explanation wrongly xD)
We do good works not to earn a place in this kingdom, but to reflect our place in it.
Let me clarify before you take my words in the opposite direction I intended. xD Belief and good works are indeed evidence (or reflection as you used) that we are…[Read more]

I do. 🙂 Arthor C. Doyle and Wilkie Collins are my favorite. Dickens is on my list. Jane Austen is slightly pre-Victorian era, but she’s pretty good as well. What our some of your favorite Victorian era authors?

Thanks for all the tips, I loved reading about your experiences, Rose. 🙂
With the printing the manuscript point, isn’t it kind’ve a pain to have to mark it down on paper, and then go into the document to actually edit it? I definitely get the not wanting to read on the computer thought, it hurts the eyes. xD

Count me as extremely impressed! That’s amazing, you’ve been so productive! What’s your current word count and what’s your goal?
Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂 I think I’m around 130k in my novel, and the final product will probably be 160k-180k. Editing will probably get rid of some of that though. When I first started…[Read more]

I wondered if the title was on purpose, it seemed like something you would do. 😄
What about Matthew 22:14, Matthew 22:10 and that whole parable? Mark 16:15, why do we preach if we don’t think we can bring others to be born again? John 9:35-41, if we have no grace and no salvation, no choice then we couldn’t be guilty we cou…

Thanks for tagging me in Taylor. 🙂
What I hope I’ve showed is that there is more to storytelling than conflict. Moreover, a story can be worth consuming without being driven at every turn by conflict.
First off, I want to say that those to statements in your conclusion (quoted above), I agree with. I have also heard all the p…[Read more]

As you know, I’ve been writing since July, so I haven’t participated in NaNoWriMo, and ever since I heard about it, I had been planning on it. Then August came, and I wrote over 60k words, and I was like “wow, challenge accomplished early than expected.” xD So then I though, “well, that was when I had…[Read more]

Hey man, glad you dropped in. 🙂
There isn’t much more for me to say about Transubstantiation, except that the verse talking about the Lord’s Supper are talking about a ordinance/sacrament that the bible command us to do in remembrance of him and what he did for us on the cross.
