Daeus Lamb started the topic How To Enrich Your Story Worlds By Inventing Original Slang in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 3 months ago
Hey Saxon Scribes!
Last week I missed our theme discussion because I got buried in research on the topic. Since then, I compiled all my thoughts into an article which I plan to submit to SE. First though, I’d like to share it with you and get your feedback. 🙂

There I was, gobbling up page after page of Out of the Silent Planet. Was…[Read more]

Hey everyone on the forum. Yes, you.
There’s a Christian film coming out February 22nd called Run The Race and I actually got the chance to preview it at a film festival last year.
Guys, it’s really good! Maybe it’s just slightly cliché, but there’s so much going for it that it gets a resounding A+ from me.
Here are some things I liked about it…[Read more]

Sadly, due to my inability to function, I didn’t give any notice, but if you see this today, Friday the 25th, it’s available online for…[Read more]

Daeus Lamb started the topic World building – governments in the forum Annual Theme Discussion 7 years, 4 months ago
Hey Saxon Scribes, as someone who never follows politics, I feel sheepish writing this, but I’ve learned a few things through experience and I wanted to leave you with a challenge.
Few things define a society like its government. Yet, for those of you like me who aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of politics, this can be unnatural t…[Read more]

Yeah, I’m the youngest, which is fun…most of the time. 😜
Um…yes. ALL THE TIME. Which in a sense isn’t really wrong, because most people have some sort of romantic relationship at some point in there life, but I’d agree that to some extent, the world of Christian fiction has gone overboard in the area of romance.
YES!!! You…[Read more]

Okay, makes sense.
Well, even if there not that good, I still think it’s awesome that you write screenplays!
And I wouldn’t say Good and Evil is terrible; I’d say it just needs some help, just like most people’s first or second drafts. 😀 Seriously, some of the writing is actually really good and I’m not just saying that to be…[Read more]

Um… I’m not sure. Basically since it started, I think? I don’t remember when exactly that was. 😛 I wasn’t especially active on the forums for a while, but I decided to be more active in several threads around the beginning of this month and I’m very glad I did. 🙂
No. Camp Frame, in West Virginia. It is awesome. I’m hoping to become…[Read more]

Saxon Scribe, ahoy!
I’m rubbing my hands that I get to tell you about Sanderson’s third law today. Brandon Sanderson is, of course, a famous fantasy author and he developed three laws for how to develop magic systems. You may enjoy reading all his three laws, but today we’re going to focus on law #3 because it applies to spec-fic writers and…[Read more]

Daeus Lamb started the topic Want to get your thoughts on some ideas for guilds in the forum Announcements 7 years, 4 months ago
Hey guys,
The other guild masters and I have been talking about the guilds and we thought we might be able to improve them with a few minor changes. I would really love your opinion on these. We’re not planning on any of these yet, just toying with the ideas, but if you really like them we might roll them out.
Here they are:

I agree. I’m blessed with a really great Christian family, even a good amount of extended family, and the extended Church just adds to that. 🙂
My family actually hasn’t been able to find a good church home for years. 😛 I was in a youth group for about four years as of December, but it also stopped doing its job so I decided to…[Read more]

Yeah…I have a lot of older siblings and we all love to read so books get passed around between us quite often. 😀
Seven Days Left was probably the most convicting…it’s about a man who finds out that he only has seven more days to live and how he deals with that fact. The story is short but I liked it. The main character spends most…[Read more]

A fair amount…not a ton. I’ve only read The Lost Clue, Seven Days Left, The Knights of the White Cross, Saved At Sea, and The Highland Chairman. My older siblings read them more than I did. 😀
What about you?

This is going to make it sound so dumb, but I picked families for this story because the characters made it easy. They already had their familial issues, so all I had to do was make them more meaningful. 😛
Personally, I think family starts with your literal family, but can also include the people who support you most and encourage you…[Read more]

I usually don’t worry to much about word count, unless it’s drastically off from what I was expecting (since that’s likely to indicate you’re either missing something or you’ve included too much). I generally work off the assumption that a story will be as long or as short as it needs to be, and bulking it up or cutting it down just to…[Read more]

I can believe that you would be strongly attached to your characters after working with them for as long as eight years! But I also understand how it’s good to move on to new stuff…have you given up on Exotic or are you just putting it on hold for a little while?
Heh-heh…so out of pure curiosity I mentioned…[Read more]
