Thank you for the warm welcome, and I look forward to joining a critique group. I am glad to be here and look forward to receiving and giving critiques.
Yes, that makes sense. I’ve completed some shorter works (Novelletes and a Novella) but I really want to write that full-length novel. My goal right now is 100k but…[Read more]

Maddie Morrow started the topic Balancing writing with busy life and family. in the forum 5 years, 8 months ago
Hey guys. Today we are getting some advice from Faith Blum on how to balance all the business of life, family, and writing.
24 hours. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. That’s how much time we have each day. And yet, it seems like we never have enough hours, minutes, or seconds to get everything done. What do you do when you can’t seem to squ…[Read more]

Hey guys! We have another war ahead of us!
This one is a word count war, and starts today and lasts through next Sunday night. All you gotta do is keep track of how many words you write throughout the week. Only count words like for short stories, novels, poems, etc. not blog posts, journal entries, or articles. You can post your totals here, and…[Read more] -

I also clap and cheer and whoop for @duskflower‘s third idea for the ending, and @duskflower‘s second idea for the story itself. Such as, what if the villain has kind of taken the protag under his wing and mentored him, intending to make the protag his successor? But when the villain starts asking the MC to do terrible things, the protagonist…[Read more]

Welcome, new Knaplings! *presents each of you with an official Knapsack*
@kr-lalonde, I don’t know if this helps or not, but just in case it does: What I like to do with a writing prompt (I’m thinking of a dialogue kind of prompt, but I don’t know if that’s what you’re working with) is try to identify a character or two and figure out their key…[Read more]

hi guys! It’s time for our next round of world building. Weather.
weather is actually a very important part of world building. Weather can almost be like its own character. Think about it. No story of London ever made it to press without talk of the constant fog and drizzle. The Boston Jane series is constantly referring to the rain in S…[Read more]

Hi guys!
Here I am, fashionably late.
Today on our world building escapade I want to talk about language. Language is one thing that brings a setting to life. Wether it’s the entire languages Tolkien created, the magic language in The Inheritance Cycle (help me out @i-david, I cant remember what it’s called) that controls magical powers, or eve…[Read more]

Welcome to Story Embers!! (Or rather, welcome back to Story Embers) 😜
I am now scared of dogs, actually. I used to be fine, but a couple months ago while on a walk a trio of dogs/coyotes started following me while barking and I freaked out. Then the next day there were tracks all over the snow…. I’ve been scarred ever sin…[Read more]

@kr-lalonde Cool titles! 😀 It sounds like a lot of work to do so many stories at once, so kudos to you! I have several I want to be working on, but I couldn’t handle them all at once. So I had to shelf all except one. Which of yours is your favorite?

@kr-lalonde Active? Varies, but that’s the responsibility of everyone on it to keep it so. Open? Always. There’s no reason why it wouldn’t be.

@kr-lalonde, hmm. That could be a problem. Too much at once can sometimes be a hindrance.
And wow!!! That was an AMAZING snippet!!!! I love how you share the characters thoughts through her actions.
That would be awesome if you finish it!!!! ANd getting published would be SO COOL!!!!!
