Megyn opened her mouth to reply. But he girl wasn’t finished. The sarcasm continued, “Thanks for telling me. Now go back to your party.”

The girl jumped as though a snake had bit her but kept her head hidden in the shadow of her hood. She turned her head away, faintly whispering the words, “Leave me alone.”

“But Miss,” Megyn persisted, her voice is low and concerned, “Your shoulder is bleeding. What happened?”

Megyn hurried on, watching as the girl pressed forward.

When the girl came to the far corner, she crumpled to the ground.  With shaking hands she reached up and pulled her hood farther down over her head. Oh, boy! She must be feeling really dizzy! Megyn thought.

Maybe you could say something reminding her that life with God is not all rainbows and puppies, and writing like it is is reflecting a false view of reality, and in fact a false view of God. If her writing tells people that the love of God instantly solves all worldly problems then she is lying about who God is. And that is a serious thing.

The girl was almost to the other side of the ballroom now. “Excuse me.” Megyn said softly, as she swerved around a knot of people and stepped to the wall. Taking just a second to lean her cello against it, she turned and she skirted along it, almost jogging as she sped up.

“Actually, that’s probably a good idea,” Amber nodded. “We don’t want her passing out in the middle of the room.”

Megyn nodded. Swinging the cello from her back, she hurried through the crowd toward the girl. I hope I can get to her in time she thought as she ducked around someone’s elbow.
