@karthmin, I was wondering if I could quote you in a blog post I’m writing for my blog tomorrow. I know it’s super short notice, but I just got the idea today, after thinking over it for a while. I wanted to quote you on the answers you gave me for my question on character arcs.

Without doubt, Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender(the Nick show, not the movie). His arc from a sympathetic antagonist to eventually switching over to the protagonist’s team is something I’ve always loved, especially because of the amount of character growth involved. What’s more–he makes mistakes. I’ve yet to find a better…[Read more]

@karthmin I really enjoyed this article. Maddie is a wise woman.
I love all her points, especially as a rather emotional person who definitely does get upset by harsh critiques, no matter how honest they may be.
No.1 is particularly good. When I had alphas/betas for the first two drafts of my novel I was expecting them to point out a lot of…[Read more]

Hello Ereki!
Here we are at the beginning of another week, ready to tackle another aspect of our Writing Life. Maddie Morrow has some words to say about how to handle critiques and criticism, so without any further ado here is what she said:
Letting others see our work is probably one of the hardest parts of being a writer. Thatβs our heart a…[Read more]

So, in the interest of A Decision Needs To Be Made, I am going to say that since @seekjustice is our writer, and she already has a plan, we are going to go with her idea.
@the-inkspiller I appreciate the work you put into your outline, but I think it will be easier for seekjustice to write her story idea rather than to write someone else’s story…[Read more]

Write a story where you bring out the beauty of something ordinary in the middle of a very dramatic setting.
So… we need to decide our setting and premise. Today, if possible, so @seekjustice can start writing tomorrow. Seekjustice, you said you had an idea you wanted to flesh out. Is that ready? @filewriter also came up with some good…[Read more]

Food is such a motivator for me! I’m lactose intolerant, so I don’t usually eat ice cream, but I found a really good coconut ice cream which I buy as a reward for finishing a first draft or a round of edits. Its far too expensive to buy just any old time.
And writing late at night/early in the morning is also hugely motivating, though…[Read more]

@karthmin Write parties sound amazing! I only have one friend irl that I could do that with, but we have had word wars together before through chat. Erekdale does that with word sprints sometimes. It’s mostly during the word wars, but I think people do it while not in a war as well.
Those are great because normally I would spend five minutes…[Read more]
