  • @karthmin Write parties sound amazing! I only have one friend irl that I could do that with, but we have had word wars together before through chat. Erekdale does that with word sprints sometimes. It’s mostly during the word wars, but I think people do it while not in a war as well.

Those are great because normally I would spend five minutes thinking if that is the word I really want there, or spend time tinkering with a paragraph before moving on, or remember something I have to do as soon as I sit down. When I’m sprinting I just think “Nope! I have to keep moving! Keep cranking out words.” and I write more.

It’s not quite the same thing as writing parties, but one thing I love about writing is the community around it. It’s strange saying that because writing is normally considered a solitary activity, right? I love talking about writing with other people,  helping them with their ideas, or telling them about an idea I had and them coming back with encouragement and excitement or even a scene I inspired them to write. Writing is better when it is shared.
