@k-a-grey
Thank you for your thoughts. There are tons of people in the Bible who did creative works & projects God requested of His people that we can learn from (thank you for bringing this up, it is a good point to ponder).
Are there examples that go along with this discussion, you think?A painter once said of his impression on the stars:…[Read more]

Thank you so much for the critique!
Ah, yes- good point. I’ve been guilty of abrupt resolutions before. XD In fact, in just about all my recent short stories. xP
So that was really good advice, thanks! God bless you! ;D

*highfives back* Yes, thank you! You covered a lot of things that my poor brain wasn’t able to put into words. Like, I literally had to copy and paste most of the conversation into a google doc so I could highlight and comment just so I could form some basis to put my thoughts together and it was still confusing 😂…[Read more]

This is what I come back to…? Like I just came to reply to Noah…😁✌️
*So, seeing as I started this debate up again it is possible I may have started something*
*again.*
Ok ok, guys, a lot of arguments just spark from misunderstanding what the other people say. Lets look unpack this!

IDK if this is necessary, but I’m gonna tag those who have been active in this thread in case nobody sees it. Feel free to NOT answer this post y’all, because it’s a monster of a post!

Hello! Thanks for joining the discussion!
Also, gotta admit, when you went into the whole “skeletal design of a woman accommodates carrying a child in their womb, etc., etc.” thing, it felt kinda condescending. True for the most part, but unnecessary and condescending. Which Lona also expresses, though somewhat snarkily😉
I thought the…[Read more]

Thank you both so much! I use repetition/refrain often for songs, but lately I’ve started using it in regular poetry. I was concerned that repetition would bore people.
It’s nice to meet you as well, K. A. Grey, and thanks for the stanza tip. I did fragment the lines for emphasis, but that is a good point on readability.

did that help at all, or shall I try again?
It was very helpful! Your suggestions have sparked new ideas. If you don’t mind, could you review this new idea and see if it makes sense and is realistic?
My idea goes something like this:
The girl’s (I’ll call her Lyra for now) act of running away is the first crack in the world’s…[Read more]

In extremely volatile places, nomadic civs would be a great idea. Thanks for your thoughts!
Other ideas I had was: short shrubby things that are heat resistant, or just burn up and regrow very quickly.
That’s a great idea. I will be keeping that one.

Now you’ve go me thinking…I will be keeping this…[Read more]

Soo, the first thing I thought of is that she’s actually insane, and her family is desperately trying to bring her back down to reality. So one day she thinks it’s aliens, another day it’s noxious gases being released, but she’s clearly unstable. So once she finds the truth, she will basically destroy her own inner world, which her fam…

Here’s one for y’all:
Fantasy world in a medieval-like era. This world is brimming with geothermal energy and tectonic shifts, and is constantly rent by earthquakes. Often, these earthquakes are far more than normal earth quakes. Some have ripped pieces of land apart creating huge trenches, others have…[Read more]

sorry for the late reply.
lol. it was close. Most of the differences are just me being exceedingly nitpicky. =)
The differences:
– red scales instead of green
– the front fins are near perfect except the three fingers come straight out of the curve of the fin, so there is no hand-like connection between the fingers and the…[Read more]

Okay, I’m not sure about this idea, but here goes. I’m thinking along the lines of It’s a Wonderful Life. Your character is so overwhelmed and frantic with life that she/he wants to go to the Mirror City. The Reflector surprisingly agrees to take her on the condition that she stay in the building that connects the two cities. She…[Read more]

First of all, that is amazing! The ending just so–*wired writer’s chef’s kiss*–so grim and gloriously terrible. Okay, so a couple of suggestions. You have an amazing idea, but no story (because what you have is just a scene). You have the potential to really go places with this story, though. You already have a sympathetic character…[Read more]

That would be great!
I wrote a little scene, and my sister loved it so much, she wants to know the rest of the story. Problem is, I don’t know the rest of the story. 😂 Thoughts on where I should go from here?

This is perfect timing! I’m brainstorming for another book and having a bit of trouble on figuring out some points.
Also, your quote from Bach is AWESOME!
I wouldn’t mind in the least.
