“St-stop stop,” Alessio stuttered. Squeezing himself in a tighter ball.
Nithel felt tears tracing down his cheeks. “My friend.” How he wanted to embrace the youth. To cry on him. To tell him he was loved and why. But Nithel didn’t want to get burned.
“Thus says the Lord who created…” He ghosted the words “who created you…”
Nith…[Read more]

Third-person might be better just so things aren’t too confusing, but I was thinking of doing Sikya from 3rd and Osiris from 1st.
One thing I’m confused about: are the players selected by the government to compete, or was there a championship to determine who goes to the games? Or does it vary from country to…[Read more]

Good point. First and Third are both totally fine for me. XD
Yes, let’s do a mix of both for the beginning.
And then for my characters, should I write a beginning for Ryumon too?? He is the MC who we put in to get a perspective of the slavery aspects of things.

At last, I have arrived! Okay, so sorry 😔
So, I have like 2 weeks left of school. I’m almost done, then I can actually like think about this? Yes, okay. (Well just so you know though I’ll be out of town June 12-18) but outside of that I can write.
Throwing in my thoughts from the RP-ing thread…[Read more]

Rose started the topic Explain your plot badly! (Just for fun XD) in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years ago
Okay, this one has literally no useful aspects, but I thought it would be funny XD
Explain your plot so badly that there are no spoilers and it hopefully entirely misses the entire point, but it isn’t ‘technically’ incorrect.
My first book: Some people crash a party and everyone is mad about it.
Okay, this was harder than I thought XD That’s…[Read more]

Nithel let out the smallest growl, glancing back to Jericho and Brendan. But he was darting after Alessio. We can’t get separated. No. Please.
He ran, trying to grab Alessio at first. But then sparks started to flicker around the youth, and Nithel was hesitant. They darted through a door, down a hall. More flames. He couldn’t lose him. He had…[Read more]

OOOOH, good points!
Aw, thanks! (I just hope it isn’t dead, lol…. Only three of us–counting me–seem to be posting right now)
I second what Joelle said about her sounding awesome 😉

Nithel’s chest ached as he stared at Brendin, then looked to Alessio.
Alessio backed away, almost seeming to hide. He swallowed hard, staring at Brendin with fear in his eyes.
“Alessio.” Nithel turned, staring at his friend’s eyes. Nithel didn’t want to step away from Brendin and Jericho, just in case he could help. But he didn’t want Alessio to…[Read more]

Nithel nodded a bit when he suggested there might be books of their worlds. But he looked hurt and evasive about it. Alessio stared at his friend, the delighted light in his eyes starting to shatter. What happened, had he done something? Was Nithel ok?
“Perhaps there is,” Jericho said uneasily and began to turn over books with him. A wave of gui…[Read more] -

@joelle-stone“Do you know what to do, Zanar?”
It was the girl. She was beginning to panic. The boy paused, surveying the trap that Klein was in.
“Nope.”
“Oh.”

Nithel was running. He had side-stepped Jericho, her fallen book, and Alessio, Brendin had screamed.
Nithel skidded before the white curtain, pausing for less than a second. He had gone in. Nithel looked over his shoulder toward Alessio and Jericho, then ripped back the curtain and went in.
The mirror had already reformed itself.
“Brendin.”…[Read more]

This thread may be dying, but I discovered the word chary today. It means the same thing as wary, apparently.
“He walked with a chary air, suspicious of everything and hesitant to trust.”
It is also apparently a homophone of ‘cherry’.

“Maybe there’s a book about your world here…”
Jericho’s deep blue eyes flicked upwards in alarm. If such a book were indeed here, it was likely to contain a more accurate version of the story she told. After all, it was part of the founding legend of the Kithnarya. Jericho had rarely shared her role in the story with anyone; she had told the l…[Read more]

Alessio nodded with a slightly crooked smile, saying like he didn’t mean it, “I’m very responsible.”
Nithel believed it. His eyes touched a small bit of seriousness before Alessio grabbed his hand, and a smile stole the man’s eyes. His friend dragged him about and Nithel was close to laughter, eyes dancing at the abandon of the boy as Nithe…[Read more]

Zanar:
Zanar was starting to wish he had stayed out of those drainage tunnels. Then, he’d probably be at home right now, safe and sound.
But nope.
He’d been an idiot. And now he was paying the price in some weird, twisted, talking castle.
