Time to turn in your word counts guys! I’ve got nothing to contribute, as I’ve been chopping words out, not writing them.

I say start over. It’d be easier that way, imo.
Hence why I’m asking. XD They both need development.

That’s a great idea. Now I just need to figure out which first chapter to share out. 🙂 I may have to combine/edit one or more of them before I do. Thanks for your offer to help.

Ooh, I love this world. Very cool story.1. I wasn’t confused at all. It was mysterious, but not confusing.
2. For the most part I really liked it. The first sentence, however, tripped me up an awful lot. The first and second half just seemed so identically that I had to do a double take. But I thought the rest of the story f…[Read more]

@jennythefaun The predictable part of the story was that the hero didn’t stay dead, which you can’t really change without making this into an entirely different story. But you have a lot more flexibility with the traveler’s character. Focusing on her reactions could make the ending of the story a bit more impactful.

Answers to your questions:
1. No. Not in a bad way, at least. I always felt like the things that weren’t immediately clear (like why the stairs are stained with blood) were things you, as an author, had a firm grip on, and I kept reading to see how they would play out.
2. “Her body heaved with lung-scouring breaths” could be cut,…[Read more]

Hi Knaplingers,
I’ve been working on a story that I think of as flash fiction. I’m not sure that’s accurate since I’ve heard that flash fiction is under a thousand words and this story is currently over 1100, but I intend to make it shorter.
Anyway, it’s set in the same world as the short story I submitted to the SE contest (though I don’t think…[Read more]
