What if the story was third person somehow and the town is destroyed but somehow the would be hero has a reason to think he has begun to get through to the villain and in the end the town burns down and its really sad but it is about somehow the way they changed the villain or maybe the vilian does have a major change of heart and nobody knows…[Read more]

i don’t think so. I think just the winning entry. But I’ll find out for sure and let you know if I’m wrong.
Im liking all of this discussion guys. Keep in mind this is a group effort, so there’s naturally gonna have to be compromises and give and take. Since you have such a tight word count limit, I would suggest you start a…[Read more]

hi guys! It’s time for our next round of world building. Weather.
weather is actually a very important part of world building. Weather can almost be like its own character. Think about it. No story of London ever made it to press without talk of the constant fog and drizzle. The Boston Jane series is constantly referring to the rain in S…[Read more]

Hello Knaplingers!
As of today, we are at war.
And by that I mean, today is our first change to participate in the guild wars. What’s a guildwar? It’s when a prompt is given, and each guild writes a story that is then judged, and one is declared the winner!
Heres how this works.
There is a two week time limit. And then the finished piece wil…[Read more]

Welcome! I’ve just been informed you’ve been added to the guild. I hope you enjoy Knaphollow. We’re a quaint little village hidden away in the enchanted hills, where unusual and whimsy are bound to happen, and everyone carries a knapsack in case adventure strikes.

Sorry I haven’t been part of this conversation before. I missed the part about real-world stuff and didn’t really know how to contribute as I don’t really have experience in Fantasy
As I may have mentioned before I basically write his-fic and that has sorts of language differences involved. And then there’s also the different cultures within…[Read more]

i finished your short story! Wow, it was cool. The opening scene had me shivering, and I was really surprised by where you took the story. Critique wise, I don’t have much. There were a couple typos, and in a few spots there was head hopping between characters, when I think it could have been conveyed from one single point of view.…[Read more]

oh that’s super interesting! I bet it’s fun (and challenging) distinguishing each language and speech pattern.
yes! That’s it. I was thinking it was the ancient language, but couldn’t remember and was too lazy to google. Pardon my being a knulheim. I can definitely relate to not focusing on language heavily. It’s not my f…[Read more]

Hi guys!
Here I am, fashionably late.
Today on our world building escapade I want to talk about language. Language is one thing that brings a setting to life. Wether it’s the entire languages Tolkien created, the magic language in The Inheritance Cycle (help me out @i-david, I cant remember what it’s called) that controls magical powers, or eve…[Read more]

Hey wanted to say welcome though it’s a little late. I haven’t been on here much this year so I just now saw you joined.
I was introduced to the Wingfeather Saga about two years ago and I have to admit at first I was not crazy about it but by the second and third I was in love… I have yet to read the fourth.

Yay you started it!!
To answer one of your questions. I like how Janner develops his character. He goes from someone who just goes with life and is perfectly fine with how things are to someone who fights for what’s right and who won’t just go along if something’s happening. His personality also develops too. And just… yeah. Stuff.

I’m a bit hesitant to read the last 2 Wingfeather books though. Cuz the friend who introduced me to them, (different one from the backstabbing rabbit one) said that they’re really tragic and and ruined her life and are even more sad then the 1st 2 but that they’re still super awesome. (And if that doesn’t make someone hesitant to…[Read more]

My fave Wingfeather charries are Peet and Maraly. (I’ve only read the 1st 2 books though so that may change.)
My fave scenes… 2 would probably be when Tink stole What’s-His-Name’s pone and when Leeli sang to the sea dragons.
My fave Green Ember charries… they’d be… Smalls and Kyle. (I know someone named Kyle irl and my…[Read more]
