@evelyn Start with The Final Empire, which is the first book in the first of the two Mistborn trilogies. It’s one of his best books, and introduces characters and concepts that keep coming up over his expanded universe.
That goes for you too, mein Bruder.

@evelyn Solid advice! Thank you so much ๐ I try to give each character a motive, a quirk and a desire as if they believe the story is about them, even if they’re only in one scene, so that they don’t fall flat. I think oftentimes where I fall short is their personal voice, but that’s something that I can fix through more practice. Your Orson…[Read more]

@evelyn I suppose when I say “teaching myself to read more” it means that I know that I enjoy reading. I have the time to set aside for it, just other unimportant things tend to clutter my time that could be spent consuming a book. I’m thoroughly enjoying (when I do read them) the Old Man’s War series by John Sclazi and the Stormlight Archives…[Read more]

@naiya-dyani @evelyn Thanks for the warm welcomes (Taylor doesn’t get a shoutout). Just curious but where do you all live? I live in New Hampshire and kinda wish I was somewhere warmer at the moment.

Here is a poem I wrote yesterday. ๐ @evelyn @k-a-grey @libby @h-jones
sleepy
the blankets are
heavy on my chest
so heavy
heat fuzzes over me
the monochrome
with streaks of color
at the lines
fast-forward
fast forward
at the forefront
of my mind
but the round browns overwhelm,
puddling through the cracks
the warmth…[Read more]

I’m conducting a survey, and I would appreciate it SO much if you answered these questions:
- Do you believe Christians should read secular literature (literature produced by non-believers)? Why or why not?
- How should a Christian approach reading secular and/or non secular) literature?
- Can (secular and/or non secular) literature be a source…

@evelyn I applied for a job at the library as a circulation assistant. It’s a part-time job with only a few hours a week, but at least it’s a start. Working at the library would be a really cool opportunity since I love books so much.

@taylorclogston You’re welcome! And yes, Steering the Craft. *nods* Alrighty. If I decide to read it I’ll probably have my parents read it first just to make sure they’re good with it.

Wow! I completely forgot about this. I could see moving this over to the fantasy thread making it super interesting. One option is that we could keep this one for specifically Parimis and then also have one over on the fantasy thread. Whatever y’all want, I look forward to seeing what happens.
