As someone who joined the forum on Day One, I don’t know how to feel about being here during the Last Days. While my own seasons of frequenting such forums are over, I do want to thank the staff for all the friends and memories I made from this place. Looking forward to seeing where everything goes…

@scoutfinch190 I can’t guarantee anything I recc will be clean, but as I’ve been stuck in the Webtoon hole for years, I think I should have some good ones up my sleeve. If you want ones without LGBT stuff then generally look for Korean ones, not international ones, cuz, well, you know. Anyways.

        • I love, love, love Ilkwon Ha’s comics. Annarasumanara, God of Bath, Duty After School, Taste of Illness are all great choices. Kind of strange, but honestly the best of the best.
        • SAMADHISchool Bus Graveyard, and The Savior’s Time are also among my favorites. SAMADHI is a really good superhero one, School Bus Graveyard is by a Christian author (and so is The Kiss Bet, now that I think about it), and The Savior’s Time just hits different.
        • My top one is probably The Masked Henchman. It’s a very cute superhero comedy on canvas, and probably the best thing I’ve ever read.

I think those are all the ones I really recommend. Hope you find something you like!

@erynne Eyy thank you! Yep, finals are over, so I finally have some time to write.

Yo as someone who is also working on like three things at a time, pft, you can do it. Can I hear about the dystopian?

@erynne Ey, nice job! It’s good to set a goal for yourself. Right now I’ve been trying to write three pages a day, and it’s pretty much all trash, but I’m glad it’s getting done. Well, it was. Until finals happened 😭.

My other main WIP I’m focusing on is a sci-fi retelling of the prodigal son and Cain and Abel! What about yours?

@erynne Don’t mind this twelve day later reply…from someone who’s always been here but has been severely inactive, heh…

Yeah, finals start this week for me, but since I have so few of them that means I have a lot of spare time to write, surprisingly. So I’m hoping to get a lot done. Even though I’ve been super duper busy I’ve been trying to move my writing forward a lot, and put in enough work to get published.

How has your writing gone in the gap between when you started this post and when I replied?

@joelle-stone Going better than usual, haha. Working on a lot of different projects right now.

You have any particular WIP you like?

Writing by hand has both its pros and cons. I’ve been trying to put off the cons for as long as possible. But thanks for the encouragement, haha.

                            @devastate-lasting

@noah-cochran I usually write 200-300 words per ten minutes by hand so that would be about 1200-1800 words per hour by hand, and on the computer is about the same.

My writing schedule… I try to write five pages a day, so about an hour of writing a day if I don’t get distracted. Usually I do that after breakfast, and then later go write other things that I don’t have set schedules for. Of course, all this is about to change with school starting, so I will have to completely reorganize my allotted 24 hours. But yeah, over the summer I basically wrote my required stuff in the morning, and did my other stuff in the afternoon.

Lastly… I don’t know how to answer that question. I usually don’t write very long works, with one installment ranging from 60k to 80k, but to me anything over 100k is very long. And what I prefer to read… I actually haven’t read fantasy in a very long time, I lost my taste for medieval fantasy at some point in life, and for books in general except for classic lit… But if I was reading something I enjoyed, I wouldn’t care how long it was! So yeah, you do you.

Yeah, character voice is not one of my strong points. Also probably because I didn’t do any character development beforehand and wrote this beginning on a whim from an image in my mind. I’ll definitely work on those points, though!
