@gabbyj Spending time with friends, at night, running down an empty street after fun and games eating cold greasy Chinese food with our fingers out of a bag.

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Week 4: Strong internal conflict in the forum Erekdale Writing Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
@morreafirebird Actually, I haven’t really thought about having paradoxes in beliefs/goals/desires. Well, I have this one character who is the antagonist/protagonist of this other book…All he wants to do is make his mother proud, to love him, and he feels like it’s no use…but in reality he’s been turned into a power hungry monster.

It’s okay, @sarah-inkdragon. I was gonna do some plotting today but ended up typing my short story, beta reading someone else’s work, and watching anime.

So I basically just took one of Josiah’s InkSlinger courses last week, the one about the compelling protagonist, and there was one bit that I would like to mention here (can I do that?) and it was that the MC was complex. And to do that you created a paradox within the character. For example, my MC believes that she has to be strong, hard, and not…[Read more]

Oh, yes. I practically did the same thing on KP, made a thread and tried to advertise this thing. I love it, but lately my use of it has gone down…anyways, thanks for sharing!

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Pen Names in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 11 months ago
Well, while a pen name keeps you safe, it can also decrease the amount of credit you get.
I myself have several pen names, two that I use very often. I had a lot of fun creating them (Devastate Lasting, Vigil Scorpius) and the first one I simply used my own initials.
I myself being an introvert (as well as my sister) we spend a lot of time…[Read more]

Linyang Zhang replied to the topic Is my story to dark? in the forum Themes 7 years, 11 months ago
Welp, everything’s already been said, apparently.
I agree completely with Daeus. If you’re writing for an older audience, then more content is okay. Also, some people can handle more than others, s just moderate your content to fit your story. And, yes, please be careful about the darkness of tone.
I think that the best thing to do would be to…[Read more]

1. Attend a wedding
2. Reverse plot books 1, 2, 3, 4
3. Do character interviews with main characters
4. Rewrite book 1 (again)
5. Finish watching Death Note
6. Finish books from library

@corkybookworm My birthday’s in December, which is basically like, ‘There will be no one younger than you.’ Also, I started in first grade when I was like five..? I think…in another country. For the first semester.

@corkybookworm I haven’t watched the movies yet. See, I grew up being the youngest in my grade, but also like always hanging out with my younger sister’s age group, so I feel both the oldest and the youngest at all times.
