I’m going to be away from Story Embers for a while, so I won’t be available for the next several rounds. Have fun, guys!

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?

@bama-rose

Absolutely! 🙂

@bama-rose

An author interview would be asking me questions (about writing in general and about the project specifically), a character interview would be you asking one of the characters from the book questions (like one of the character interviews on my blog). 🙂

@bama-rose

A cover reveal is when the author reveals the cover of their upcoming book publicly, and other cover reveal participants share it on their own social media and/or blogs to help it get more reach and get people excited.

A blog tour is kind of similar, but it’s for the book itself and is usually limited to blogs (hence the name). For x…[Read more]

No. There are other options like IngramSpark and… I think there’s one more big one, but I don’t remember what it is right now. It might just be those two that are pretty big. There might be other, smaller options as well, but if there are I’m not aware of them. (I started with Amazon and I’ve stuck with it; it’s worked well for me.)

@bama-rose Publishing involves two pieces: physical production and distribution.

Physical production only applies to print books (unless you want audiobooks on CD or something). You can upload your manuscript to print on demand companies like KDP and every time someone buys your book, they’ll print it and ship it to them. This is AWESOME for…[Read more]

@bama-rose Most traditional publishers will make you sign away (some or all of) the rights to your books, so technically they could change your book however they want. A lot of publishers will respect what you’ve done though and their changes will probably make it better. Remember that not all publishing houses work exactly the same way.

Having…[Read more]

*nods* That makes sense.

The first issue can be addressed to some extent with self-publishing if you’re able to put together a really good street team (a group of people to help you promote your book) and you can put together good promotional graphics. (And be sure to have a professional cover.) It’s still not as good as having a big…[Read more]

1. I’d recommend checking out Nadine Brandes’ YouTube channel. I don’t remember if she tackles this specifically, but she has a handful of videos on traditional publishing and she’s really down-to-earth and genuine about all of it (and she has an awesomely quirky personality), so those might still be helpful. I know she has one on how…[Read more]

Thank you! And Great job! I can’t believe we got second place.

We’ll have to push ourselves harder next time. Like we did with the dream sequence one.

Good job everyone!

@bama-rose @eden-anderson @cassandraia

This feels like the smallest team we’ve ever had working on the prompt war.

😀 😀 😀 I’m really happy with how it turned out!! Good job everyone!

Thanks @noahlitle for originating the idea in the first place… and also switching the order around, even at last minute 😛 But I’m sure it made the story stronger.

@eden-anderson Aww, thank you 🙂 Even though it was quite some…[Read more]

@bama-rose I’ve applied to join a guild, and I cannot wait!

@dekreel I think we can absolutely find common ground!

It’s interesting; I am obsessed with drinking water. I call myself a water hoarder (I have hoarding, y’know, tendencies.)

I do not know my type even though I’ve been tested a couple times. Sorry.
