    Those characters sound interesting and well developed

    Thank you!  The story and characters have developed a lot since last posted, and I’m really looking forward to testing them out in here!

    Whewww it’s going fast now!! I better drop in my girls before anything else happens. I’ll try to do it this afternoon! XD

    @irishcelticredflowercrown

    Lovely to see Lorcan hasn’t changed a bit XD

    YES! He just has that THING you know! That thing! That thing guys, you know what I mean!

    Yeah? You know!

    *awkward silence. crickets chirp*

    YES he does have the thing! XD

    I’m starting out by begging for forgiveness for what I’m about to inflict on poor Lorcan. I fear for his ego XD Do not get me wrong, I absolutely adore Lorcan, it’s just so delightfully easy to get him riled up XD

    Calliope is going to have the time of her life in here, I’m pleading forgiveness ahead of time to everyone, I don’t control her in the least. She’s like Liorah, except where Liorah did everything out of a reflexive desire for chaos, Calliope does it out of premeditated malicious vigilante instincts XD

    I think Ophelia may end up getting under his skin more… purely by accident, poor thing XD She’s simply delightfully oblivious.

    @emily-waldorf

    Also, I keep forgetting to mention how absolutely fabulous Avin is. He and Aydin are quite similar, I adore him already!

    That man has a self-complex that will not quit. That’s why he and Liorah get along so famously.

    Every single one of their interactions lives in my mind rent-free XD I’ve never since gotten Liorah to be her horrible self so fully XD

    1.8 meters and 1.27 cm–I have no idea how you all measure people across the pond. If this is a hilarious format…well, laugh hard. XD

    LOL, that did give me a laugh, but you weren’t even that far off! That would be 1.81 m or 181 cm!

    @calidris

    Kit my beloved chaos boi XD This is going to be wild, I can’t wait XD Also, poor Valencia. She’s trapped in here with Kit and so many other people, she’s just going to be living her nightmare XD

    @e-n-leonard

    Ophelia and Calliope sound awesome! That was a good explanation of their characters.

    Thank you! Rosemary and Jade are fabulous too!

    Ophelia and Jade interacting could get really interesting. Jade has a grudging respect toward other ballerinas as good as her (she’ll never admit any are better. She’s the most narcissistic and sarcastic protagonist I’ve ever had on my hands. Calliope will have prey.), but for inept ballerinas it’s just, “Get out of my way!” Thankfully Rosemary balances her out because Jade always stands up for her.

    That’s going to be delightful XD Ophelia is actually really good but everyone is like “Who was enough of an idiot to give her a main part, she has literal feathers for brains.” Which is kind of sad. Okay, really sad XD

    Also, Calliope decided to inform me that she does not in fact have black hair. She dyed it bright indigo.

    Oh boy, the fantasy characters are going to be confused XD

    Okay, here we go!

    Ophelia

    Whoever said that you couldn’t sing classical music had been lying. Had anyone ever said that? I didn’t have time to think about it, I was too busy trying to sing all the parts to something by Tchaikovsky that I forgot the name of. It was the one with that interesting part in the middle. The lack of words was unfortunate but it would never be enough to stop me.

    I hurried down the alley, a shortcut to the campus. Wasn’t it? Well, I’d find out. It was rather dim but I didn’t particularly care, as I was just getting to the fun part. Were people staring at me? What if I met someone I knew? That put a damper on my enthusiasm, so I lowered my volume from top-of-my-lungs to enthusiastic-humming.

    I skipped onward, too wrapped up in my own personal concert to pay much attention to anyone else.

    I hadn’t thought it was already this dark.

    An unsettling feeling started to rise up in me. I spun in a circle to get rid of it, forcing myself to keep humming.

    I ran into someone’s back so hard that I slipped and fell back, while he stumbled forward.

    I sprawled backward, landing squarely on my rear in the most ungraceful way. Something stung my hands. Had I landed on something sharp?

    The man stared down at me. He had dark hair, dark eyes, and a dark expression. My heart started beating faster. This was not where I was supposed to be.

    I smiled brightly.

    “Hello! I didn’t see you, I’m so sorry.”

    He instantly went from looking annoyed to looking confused. I scrambled up, and smiled again.

    “I’m Ophelia Schwann, I think I’ve gotten lost. Do you know the way to the college?”

    I instantly bit my tongue, realizing that giving this stranger my full name might not have been the brightest idea I ever had.

    The stranger stared at me as though I was speaking another language. Which I wasn’t. I was pretty sure.

    I smiled again to cover up my uncertainty.

    __________

    Okay now for Calliope. This should be… interesting XD

    @irishcelticredflowercrown

    Yes that was Lorcan XD I had to choose the most disastrous person possible XD

    LOL, that did give me a laugh, but you weren’t even that far off! That would be 1.81 m or 181 cm!

    Hm. If I would have thought about it I would have known that. I was already suspecting, but ya know? I figure, if you’re gonna be clueless, at least be totally clueless!

    Good to know that about Avin. Thankfully Jade is not the sort to poke at those things since she’s pretty much “the bottom of the barrel” in her world, excepting her dance skills.

    Even if she does, the more we push Avin’s buttons the funner it will be. 🙂

    Alaric sounds interesting. Can’t wait to meet him! *Jade huffs. “You mean watch him meet his doom in here.” * It’s awesome that you did Myers-Briggs for him! I do that for all my characters (Jade is INTJ, and Rosemary is INTP like me).

    Briggs-Meyer can be SO helpful. Sometimes not, but I really like to just see what they say and if it lines up with what I’m thinking about that character.

    @e-n-leonard
    just joined, with her characters Rosemary and Jade. Rosemary is a mad scientist who is pretty friendly, and Jade is a cynical ballerina

    @rose-colored-fancy
    pulled Mejt and Co. and has put in Ophelia and Calliope (Cal for short. Ophelia is bubbly and energetic and Cal is cynical, but actually extroverted.

    @irishcelticredflowercrown
    ‘s Lorcan is still commanding the attention of the whole room, but Daire is nowhere in sight. Not sure if he’s still here or not.

    Denali is gone for a while.

    @inkhorn
    ’s character either hasn’t made an appearance or I missed it. Last I checked her name was Enyyd.

    My characters are Avin Merrelsby, Duke of Westlyn who has a bitter past that he doesn’t talk about but thinks about almost constantly, subconsciously. He is especially sensitive over the fact that he was in prison for a while (because of the villain in the last book, but it doesn’t look good for Avin). He is married to the princess of Vegada (my world). Oh, he also has scars all over his back that wrap around a little on his right neck and chin. Doesn’t like showing the scars.

    And Alaric, Prince of Reantare. He is an extrovert (Briggs-Meyer ESTJ-A, I think), and wants nothing more than to be king, but his people skills are dreadful and he’s polite but not thoughtful.

    Last I knew, Rosemary and Jade came in, Rosemary looking for chemicals and Jade on the lookout for Benevolants (villains of her story, I think), and were interrogating Avin. Then Lorcan came up, and Avin found a warped version of a kindred spirit in Lorcan. In his eyes, to be exact. XD

    Ophelia and/or Calliope came in, but I haven’t read their post yet.

    Lorcan

    The girl was eyeing him up suspiciously. “Like I expected one,“ she said rudely. “Nowhere pleasant even exists, unless it’s the place you left.”

    The other girl looked at her companion with horror, “Um, no, we’re not from here. But anywhere’s got to be better than Benevola Haven, right?” She looked up at Lorcan. “What’s your name, anyway?”

    He gave a sarcastic snort. “The name’s Lorcan, or it was when it mattered.”

    “What, does this place issue numbers? I’d swear we’ve been Culled except for that chandelier,” said the rude girl.

    Lorcan liked her already. He was about to respond when he felt something small slam into his back. He turned, meeting eyes with yet another strange girl. She was elegant, her stature graceful. Perhaps she was a dancer of some sort?

    “Hello! I didn’t see you, I’m so sorry.” She grinned nervously up at him, and got up.

    She didn’t seem frightened of him. Then again, neither did Liorah.

    “I’m Ophelia Schwann, I think I’ve gotten lost. Do you know the way to the college?”

    College? He gave her long look, trying not to pity her. She seemed well-fed, well dressed and all smiles. Her innocence was about to be shattered by this malignant Castle.

    “Do you always give your full name to complete strangers?”, he asked her smoothly. She blinked, looking rightfully nervous. He huffed a quiet laugh. “I’m afraid that is not something you should make into a habit, sweetheart.”

    He folded his arms as he examined her carefully. “But seeing as you started the introduction process – name’s Lorcan. And I’m sorry to tell you this, but you’re about as far from college as you could possibly get.”

    Avin

    The man looked away, and Avin relaxed. Rosemary and Jade were talking at him, and Avin was left to himself. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a sudden movement, and heard a sound a moment later. A sound like someone was humming a long distance away. Sight and sound met as a young woman ran against Lorcan and fell backwards, surprise written all over her face. Avin started toward her, but she bounced up again and stared, wide eyed and unafraid at the man in front of her.

    Suddenly Avin was aware of some one talking next to him.

    “Do you know where I could find some chemicals?”

    Chemicals again.

    “Does the castle control them? How did you get here?” It was Rosemary’s voice.

    “Don’t overdue it.” muttered Jade. “You just met him sixty seconds ago.”

    “Chemicals…?”Avin tried to place the word in his vocabulary. He shook his head. Perhaps someone educated would know, but not him. He looked the girls over, as if for the first time. They were. He could see knowledge in every line of Rosemary’s face, and there was a grace of movement that Jade had which contradicted her speech. It reminded him of Elsa.

    “No, I’m afraid I don’t know where you can find chemicals.” Or anything about them. “I only just got here myself, so I know nothing about the Castle. He seems to have been here longer.” He jerked his head at Lorcan.”And I just…got here. What about you?” He was relieved to turn the conversation away from himself.

    LOL, here we go XD I’m going to introduce Cal and let her escalate the situation as she always does XD

    Calliope

    This was definitely not where I was supposed to be. I glared around the dim clearing, judging everyone.

    A man skulking in the shadows, one standing confidently in the middle of the clearing, arms crossed, with another close by him, and two girls, one tall and blonde, one smaller and brunette.

    All of them stood bunched together, talking amongst themselves. I narrowed my eyes, trying to read the situation. Everyone looked awkward, except the tall man in the middle, who seemed inordinately full of himself.

    Who was he talking to? I took a step to the side, so I could see past him.

    It was a girl with blonde hair in perfect waves pulled back from her face and a smile so bright it must be fake plastered on her face. Her frilly pastel clothing, complete with pleated skirt, stockings, and wrap sweater made her look like a porcelain doll.

    Wait, didn’t I know her? The doll-like appearance seemed familiar. I rooted around in my mind. I didn’t think she was in any of my classes, I certainly would have remembered her.

    Just then, the man said something that sounded harsh and she giggled nervously.

    I wrinkled my nose as though I’d smelled something foul, instantly remembering who she was. Athena’s sidekick. I couldn’t stand Athena and this girl had always followed her around like a lovesick puppy. That meant she was either as bad as Athena, or so feather-brained she didn’t realize anything.

    Judging by everything I’d seen of her, I was going with the latter for now.

    I stepped closer, my heavy combat boots crushing glass underfoot.

    “I’m Ophelia Schwann, I think I’ve gotten lost. Do you know the way to the college?” she said, perkily.

    That was definitely the same one. Who had a name like Ophelia anyway? It, unfortunately, fitted her rather too well. Flowery and sweet enough to give you cavities.

    The man was rather staring at her, which made me scowl. Like he was the most normal person here. Everyone here was dressed oddly, but he had the unfortunate addition of having incurred my wrath, which didn’t improve his appearance.

    “Do you always give your full name to complete strangers?” he asked, smugly.

    Ophelia’s eyes widened, apparently realizing her mistake. Her fingers clenched on the strap of her too-expensive purse.

    I liked her less the more I saw of her, but that went double for that man.

    Then, he laughed, with the confidence of knowing everything in the world and assuming nobody else did.

    “I’m afraid that is not something you should make into a habit, sweetheart.”

    That did it. He was so condescending, so arrogant, so…

    Ophelia just smiled nervously, apparently, she didn’t have the brain capacity to think of a retort.

    I strode up behind them.

    “But seeing as you started the introduction process – name’s Lorcan. And I’m sorry to tell you this, but you’re about as far from college as you could possibly get.”

    Lorcan. I didn’t care if he was a foot taller than I was, I didn’t care if he was intimidating and filled with glares. I wasn’t scared of him, I wasn’t scared of anyone. I was going to take him down a peg or two. Perhaps three.

    I stood behind him and cleared my throat peremptorily. He looked over his shoulder, then looked down at me with something like amusement.

    “I’m Cal. I don’t think you’re in a position to be ‘sweetheart’-ing her,” I said, my voice practically daring him to argue.

    “And who are you actually,” I added, giving him the exact same up and down glare as he had given Ophelia. “Besides Lorcan”

    I had fine-tuned the art of making names sound like insults.

    ___________

    GOOD HEAVENS. I did not think Calliope was this salty XD Her assessment of Ophelia and everyone else was positively ruthless. She literally got mad at them for doing… nothing? XD

    Definitely don’t take her assessments too seriously. She has the same amount of rage as Liorah but she’s like eight inches shorter so her rage is compressed XD

    I feel almost ashamed of her, she’s being kinda mean LOL

    @irishcelticredflowercrown

    I guess it’s your turn to do something with this XD

    @rose-colored-fancy

    Oh she is RUTHLESS. I’m looking forward to this XD

    Lorcan

    Someone cleared their throat behind Lorcan. He turned to see yet another girl , her hair dyed a bright indigo glaring up at him. Lorcan knew from the moment he laid eyes on her brightly coloured hair and scowl that she was going to be a problem. “I’m Cal. I don’t think you’re in a position to be ‘sweetheart’-ing her,” she snapped. “And who are you actually? Besides Lorcan.”

    He couldn’t help but smirk at the way she said his name. Like it was insult. It didn’t bother him in the slightest. “Relax. I call everyone sweetheart. Or a ghrá. Or eejit. Depends on what mood I’m in.” He examined the girl closely. She – Cal – seemed to be the type who wanted to be angry at absolutely everything simply for the sake of it. Or maybe it was because she had deeper issues going on with her. He could see it. The bitterness. The fury and suspicion. All directed at him. As if his very existence had a hit a serious nerve with her.

    Well. This was going to be exhausting.

    “Besides Lorcan?” He pretended to think, then shrugged. “A lot of things actually. But I’m mostly know for possessing a particular set of skills. Unpleasant work, but it gets food on the table.” He raised an eyebrow at her. “And who are you? Besides Cal?”

    Alaric

    Back and forth, back and forth, over the same stones he always paced over. “…in the third year of his reign, the Southern Duchies produced a total of $17,000 quids, the largest recorded gross income to date.”

    The light was getting bad. He squinted at the page. The servants would be in soon to light the chandeliers.

    “In the same year, however, a small earthquake in the kingdom of Cornillian caused the lowest shafts of the mines in the Northern Duchies to collapse, causing many casualties and a great loss of capital. The estimated loss was over–” his foot suddenly struck something hard and sharp, and without warning he pitched headlong into pitch darkness. His book flew out of his hands as he stretched them out to break his fall.

    Why didn’t the servants light the chandeliers!

    pain like pricks of lightening shot into his hands as they hit the floor, and an instant later his body crashed after them. It was as dark as his bedroom at midnight.

    He cursed the servants and tried to get to his knees. Glass crunched wherever he moved. This time his curse was audible, but at least he understood. The servants must have knocked the chandelier off while trying to light it.

    “Manchester! Peevy!” he called the servants who should have been in that wing, but all he got was an echo of his own voice.

    Then someone said, “You needn’t shout about it. We all know it’s there. Might’ve told you, if you hadn’t come barreling in without any warning.” It was a woman’s voice.

    Alaric scrambled up, indignant. “Did you break the chandelier? Where are Manchester and Peevy? And who are you?”

    “Jade.” the voice snapped. “And you can forget about Chester and Manvy; if they haven’t been culled, so much the better for them. Who are you?”

    “That’s enough!” he snapped. “Pick up the pieces and dispose of them properly, and tell the steward it must be replaced. And if you wish to keep you’re position, you will learn to hold your tongue.” He turned around, but there was no light behind him, either. No hallway, no doors, no stained glass windows sweeping to the floor. No…anything.

    He blinked.

    @e-n-leonard
    I believe Alaric has permanently damaged his character in Jade’s point of view. I am eagerly waiting to see how she reacts. As always, change what you wish.
