Jane Maree replied to the topic GUILD WAR – To the Death! in the forum Announcements 8 years ago
Okay, we’ve got to decide on the story now, so we can write it and edit it in time to submit it next week. Let’s take a vote between our current two options.
1: Villain death.
2: Immortal watching another loved one die
Feel free to give details on why you pick the one you pick and toss out more brainstorming ideas for either one. WE’RE GOING…[Read more]

@writerpiper, I did that in one of my books and it’s something the readers have said was emotional, so I definitely think that is a valid option.

@faith_blum
The exercise/activity is just meant to be a really quick, fun scene that you can write with any one of your characters that you choose. Simply them walking into a cafe or restaurant or other sort of place. A very simple setting, solely to practice strengthening the character voice in your writing. 🙂@All great job, guys!! I’m…[Read more]

YEET. Here we are with the first of our weekly activities. Hopefully you all know–our annual theme is Prose, and that’s what these weekly activities/discussions/challenges will be working to improve.
This week, I want to look at Character Voice.
I don’t know how much you know about character voice, but I’ll define it basically:
Character Voice…[Read more]

I think Heather Jones would be a pretty cool name to have on a book!Woot, fantasy! I like trying all the different genres, but my niche is more in the sci fi side of the spectrum, although I am writing a fantasy novel at the moment and quite enjoying it. 🙂
You can call me Jane. Or the Most Honourable and Esteemed Guildmaster of the…[Read more]

Awww thank you. ^-^ Now I’m blushing. *hides* You’re already an awesome guildling. 😛Yooop, I’m so glad you like it! I almost burst my brains trying to think of a good name. At first I wanted to call it ‘Bridge Four’ as a reference to Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive (an epic and amazing fantasy book series)…[Read more]

@writerpiper Yay! Congrats! I got into Parimi Alca, which is Elven for “Written World of Light.” 🙂
Thank you. If he shouted those questions, I afraid Rufus would just roll up into a ball and cover his face with his huge ears.

@filewriter I like the plots of your WIPs but I have to ask: what is it like co-writing a book? How do you split up the work? 9I’ve never tried doing that before….)
@writerpiper Thanks for answering my question. Your Drakhar sound very interesting and I hope I can learn more about them some time! (And I really like the name for them!) That must…[Read more]

@writerpiper Both of your stories sound so interesting! I wonder what do your half-dragons look like? Do they look like dragons or humans or a mix of both? Or even are they half-human or half-something else? 🙂
Also I love stories in which a person travels from different worlds! There is just so much possibility and it is so much fun to see the…[Read more]

@writerpiper Yeah, I am also “iffy” about romance as you put it. Very few romances are good in my opinion. A lot of them just seem to have the wrong view of marriage. On writing genres.. I think its hard though to write in only one. My books seem to mix a couple technically. Like really, how can you write a fantasy novel that doesn’t really also…[Read more]

Hello @writerpiper! Thank you for welcoming me! I’m very glad to not be the only tea-addict here or member of team Cap. I like black teas the best – Chia, Oolong, and English Breakfast. The best herbal teas, in my opinion, are fruity ones. What about you?
As to my favorite genre, that would be fantasy, which I mainly write, though I thoroughly…[Read more]

@writerpiper Welcome to Story Embers! You’ll find many dragon lovers (and actual dragons) around here. 😉
Which of C.S. Lewis’s books is your favorite? The Chronicles of Narnia spawned my lifelong love of fantasy. 🙂
