      @catwing You’re stories sound really cool! I don’t exactly remember when or why I started drawing. I learned how to draw thanks to some YouTube channels and some books from the library. For the most part though, I’m self-taught. For awhile, I had this phase where I would draw everyone as cats (my favorite series at the time was Warriors, by Erin Hunter). But now I draw people both for fun, and for mine or other people’s books. Character designing is one of my favorite parts about drawing. What’s yours? Good luck with finishing your story! ;D

      Thanks for the warm welcome! I like writing fan fictions, too. My first ones were based off of the series Warriors, by Erin Hunter. Now, though, I like writing superhero fanfictions. What kind of fan fictions do you enjoy writing? That’s all right! We need sane people in the world to keep us crazy people on track. ;P Even though you may not be crazy, you still do fit in, cuz we are all united through the blood of Christ here. =3

        @mariposa Hello! It’s nice to meet you, Mariposa and Aberdeen. Thank you for the warm welcome. =) My favorite things to draw are superheroes, mostly my own. For awhile, though, I was really into drawing animals, specifically cats. What do you enjoy drawing?

        @wordsmith
        It’s nice to meet you too, Wordsmith! Writing has been a fun journey for me as well. I participated in the Camp Nano April competition, but couldn’t finish due to various reasons. But I hope to finish the next time I compete. I also enjoy reading and writing in the fantasy genre, and enjoy writing about superheroes. None of my current WIPs have superheroes in them, but I hope to make my own superhero series soon. When you write sci-fi stories, do you like writing dystopia or something else? God bless you in your writing, too!

        Thanks! It’s good to be here, and it’s nice to meet you. I do in fact like acting and singing! I didn’t really start actively watching musicals, though, until last year, so I don’t know about many of them. Of the ones I have seen, my favorites are The Phantom of the Opera, and The Greatest Showman, which was absolutely amazing. As for my favorite play, does it count if my favorite play isn’t one that I’ve seen, but one I’ve read? Cuz if that’s allowed, then my favorite play so far is Romeo and Juliet. The shows I’ve acted in are all ones that my churches have put on. For the most part, those have been Christmas shows. Sure! I’m all right with learning of little-known musicals. The more the merrier!

          @catwing Oh, I- I feel bad now that I gagged at the potato-squash! Next time, I’ll try to be more open minded with new foods… ;P (It’s not unheard of for humans to eat insects. I’ve heard of worse things people eat than that, like bird nest soup, for example. ;3 I personally like fish, both inside and outside of my character. There’s something about it that makes my mouth water every time!)

          (That’s so neat how you’re in your own book! It’s so fun doing that. I like doing that also, depending on what I’m trying to write at the time. =3)

            @catwing Hi! I guess I can say that I am a Wonderlandian. ^^ I guess I’m also one of the rare Chesire Cats, too. I can certainly disappear in a crowd quickly enough. And, yay, another cat in the forums! I’m not the only one!! *starts cartwheeling around and grinning wildly* ;P

            *calms down after seeing catwing holding out the bugs and squash* Oh, ummm, thanks for the bugs and squash? *hesitantly takes said bugs and squash* *smiles awkwardly* *tries eating them* *nearly gags* They’re -errr- delicious! XD XP

            (I totally understand the tough decisions of deciding what you should wear. I love designing outfits, and it is so hard at times! The wing armor would certainly look cool. But that’s just my opinion. Whatever you end up deciding to do will look amazing!)

              @salome01w4g Hi, fellow Emberian! I’m new here also.

              It’s really neat that you write historical fiction. It must be difficult finding the right sources for your research, or finding the right information for your books. I’ve tried reading it, and sadly, it’s not really my thing… I’m more of a fantasy-and-adventure gal. *coughs awkwardly; looks bashful*

              It’s cool that you’re interested in natural health, too. What exactly is included in the field of natural health? Once upon a time, I thought I wanted to be a herbalist, but sadly, that didn’t work out… ‘=\

              Anyways, welcome to Story Embers, be blessed!

                You know when you’re a writer when:

                You get separation anxiety form being away from your story for too long.

                You try looking up something historical on the internet so that you know what it looks like to put it into your story, and then, after not finding anything you need, decide to look up a particular Disney movie because it has the thing you need for your story. (That actually happened to me yesterday! XD)

                Or, finally, when how you normally speak sounds like a foreign language to other people because of all the new words you’re finding places.

                @skredder
                Haha! Yes; I have a tendency to look up movies before I see them so that I know their plots, or so that I’ll know what’s supposed to happen in it, and I won’t get lost when I actually watch the movie. It annoys my brothers every time! XD

                @sam-kowal
                I know what you mean. Often I’ve wondered what it would be like to simply fall into a book and never return to the real world….

                  Haha! Yes; I totally look up movies and learn their plots before I even see them. It annoys my brothers every time. ;P

                  @wonderland7

                    Hi! I struggle with the same thing when it comes to incorporating God into fantasy stories.  It doesn’t help that there are hardly any Christian fantasies out there, so there aren’t a whole lot of examples to go off of.

                    As everyone else has already said, probably the best way to incorporate God into you stories is weave His attributes into it. Weaving His attributes into it is sure to bring your story depth and life, as well as bringing God glory through your story. ( Hey, I rhymed! 😉

                    Another way that I’ve seen others do to put God into their stories is include Him in there, but call Him by another name. For example, I’ve been reading these Christian fantasy stories, The Old Tree series by Tricia Martin, that has God and Jesus playing major roles in her books, but under different names. They are still the Father and the Son, just under a different name. C.S. Lewis does this also, giving Jesus the name of Aslan in his series, The Chronicles of Narnia.

                    And lastly, what I’ve been doing for my own fantasy story is mention that the land is ruled by a Higher Authority, or make comments within it about there being a God who rules the land, while not directly mentioning God Himself. Those are subtle hints about God, without becoming too preachy about Him.

                    I hope this helps you! God bless!!
