@the-golden-light *raises hand proudly* I am totally a Melanie Dickerson fanatic. And Captive Maiden was one of my favorites!! Please tell me you’re reading them in order! *hides behind hands* If you like her stuff, I’d reiterate that you should check out Melanie Cellier’s Four Kingdom books. They’re fantastic retellings!
Also, had to stick my n…[Read more]

@the-golden-light *pops head in* Has anyone recommended The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart yet? It’s not medieval, but it’s amazing. *rubs hands together excitedly* It’s one of the books that inspired me to write children’s books. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series, but I highly recommend the first one. I don’t…[Read more]

@daeus-lamb That’s my Dad’s all-time favorite novel too!

@the-golden-light The Ted Dekker books (The Lost Books series and the Circle) are really good imo, but the Circle series books can get a little mature, especially Green, in terms of romantic content. Nothing totally horrible if you don’t mind half-page smooches, but I wouldn’t let my fourteen-year-old kid read Green. The other three are fine, tho…[Read more]

@the-golden-light I loved the Ascendance Trilogy!! And I’m a total sucker for the Chronicles of Narnia. LOTR is classic and amazing. Great taste!
To echo previous recommendations, The Giver is absolutely excellent, a Nebery Medal Winner. It asks some difficult questions and is very well-written. I also highly recommend Lois Lowry’s Gossamer. Erago…[Read more]

@the-golden-light You plan to illustrate your books! That’s awesome! 😃 It’s my ambition to be an author/illustrator myself. 😊

@the-golden-light @christieaton It’s good to know that there is an audience for it 😀 I think I’ll go ahead and make it!
Christi – what comic books would you suggest to start with? I haven’t read any comics and I probably should if I want to make them – but it’s so hard to know where to begin, plus worrying about content : Any suggestions?

@the-golden-light Yeah, it just kinda seemed to lose it’s fun elements and when something isn’t fun anymore…*shrug* It didn’t really seem worth it to me anymore. Hmm…I do like 10 and 11 a lot. Rose was my favorite companion, and I really liked the whole Melody Pond deal. Amy wasn’t my favorite, but I liked Matt Smith a lot. I guess it’s kind…[Read more]

Check out the 100 Cupboards series (by N.D. Wilson (he’s Christian)), the books of which are 100 Cupboards, Dandelion Fire, The Chestnut King, and The Door Before (the prequel). Also check out Outlaws of Time, the books of which are The Legend of Sam Miracle, The Song of Glory and Ghost, and The Last of the Lost Boys (I haven’t…[Read more]

@the-golden-light check out “The Lost books” series by Ted Dekker and another series by the same author called the “Circle” series. Both are really good and they are an allegory of the Christian faith. Both are really good!

@the-golden-light You’re absolutely welcome! Anytime!
Ooh! That sounds wonderful! Yeah, the Waterfall books (I’ve read the first two, but own book 3 and intend to finish the trilogy very soon!) weren’t really focused on time travel, but it was an element. I’m definitely a fan of Doctor Who! Well…I haven’t watched anything since the middle of…[Read more]

@the-golden-light *gasp!!* Two of the worst book-movie adaptations in the history of book-movie adaptations! 😉 Hahahaha! No, to be fair, I own both of the movies. I have learned to compartmentalize. The movies are completely separate entities in my mind. In Ella Enchanted, they made the whole thing a spoof, a joke. It had some great music in it,…[Read more]

@the-golden-light Oh, gosh, you have stumbled upon a subject for which I have enthusiastic passion. XD I could recommend books until your ears fell off. However, if there’s a particular genre you’re interested in, I’m your girl!

@the-golden-light People are my favorite things to draw too. 😊 I also enjoy drawing dinosaurs and Disney fan art. For painting, I prefer landscapes (particularly tropical beaches). What kind of paint do you like to use? I use acrylic.

@the-golden-light Dude! That would be fantastic!! Especially if they bothered to do them right! I have never played capture the flag…maybe one day I’ll get to! XD I am also obsessed with Narnia and have a healthy admiration for old wardrobes…just in case 😉

@the-golden-light I like all kinds of movies, as long as they are not cheesy and unrealistic within the movie’s universe.
Ah yes……Pendragon. That was the first action-y movie that I ever watched; it was awesome the first time or two, until I realized just how awful and historically inaccurate it was. It is quite annoying how terrible most of…[Read more]
