    Erynne,

    How’s your recording coming?

    Were you able to find the one that works for you?

    Voice Record Pro

    I use the Vocal Recorder Pro to record my vocal track and then I export it (the resulting mp3 file) to my One Drive.

    From there, I open the file up in Audacity and edit it.

    In Audacity, I amplify the audio and cut the parts where I stumbled in…[Read more]

    @crazywriter,

    Here we go again! I’ve set aside Tuesdays for editing/critiquing, so I should be able to get through your chapters a lot faster than before. 🙂

    Hours later, Abner was riding southeast, Breanon’s hooves pounding the cobbled road. A group of ten cavalry officers rode behind him, all seasoned veterans with grim faces. Cold air b…[Read more]

  • Alessio clutched Nithel madly. Like his son the first time Domnik saw a man’s arm severed. Like his son would clutch him at night, when Nithel stumbled on him, weeping. He shouldn’t have had to fight. Cruel world. Nay… it was man. But my son is a man. Avigail… He burns inside, aching enough for physical pain. Alessio, what did they do to…[Read more]

    (Lol ask what? The weird lettering?)

    Pia nodded. “My brother can be like that, too.”

    (Weinik… He’s a complicated character….. I guess most of mine are tho. OH I SHOULD DO A CHARA INTERVIEW FOR HIM HAHA)

    (I love how you’ve gotten to know me well enough you don’t even ask anymore XD)

    “Yeah, well so does Julian. He just grew up in a tough spot and that kind of shaped him to the way he is now. He’s normally a lot of fun. He’s the guy that’ll keep you laughing nonstop, but certain things get him fired up. Especially…well, especially when people are only thinking of themselves. Not that I thought you were, he just may have seen…[Read more]

    Pia shook her head. “I just have a fiery temper. I get that from my father…” This drove her silent. Her character was shaped by her father’s large presence Al throughout her life. She wondered what she would’ve been like if she had had her mother as her mother.

  • “No, no…I should’ve expected it.”

    Alessio squeezes his eyes shut, trying to block out the words. He’d always taken the responsibility like that, as if it was his fault whenever someone hurt him. Nithel didn’t deserve any of this. What if Alessio was just as abusive as his family, inadvertent or not?

    They called people with special powers aber…[Read more]

    Hello everyone! I’m new here, so please excuse my naïvety about how things work around here. 😛 Also, I think you all deserve a forewarning that fantasy is a rather new venture for me as I usually write historical or biblical fiction. I do enjoy reading fantasy, just never much tried my hand at it until recently. My favorite fantasy is realistic…[Read more]

  • Hi Joshua! (@storysmith)

    Rose has some great ideas!

    Make sure that your title connects with your story in a meaningful way.
    Look through the story and listen for a turn of phrase or a particular part that you feel might encapsulate your story’s essence.  I think the upcoming seminar on Theme might give you some good ideas.  If you can, connect y…[Read more]

    @storysmith

    Well, a good place to start is that your title doesn’t have to be perfect 🙂 The only thing your title has to do is fit your genre and the general idea of your story. It isn’t part of the story, it doesn’t necessarily have to make a big thematic statement or show some other layer to the story. It just has to sound good, be (somewhat)…[Read more]

  • Nithel hadn’t been expecting the punch. He’d only wanted to stop Alessio from breaking his hand on the stone, to calm him down, to make him breathe. But Nithel slung back against the wall, stars dancing in his vision, and pain cutting up his jaw. He released Alessio, one hand reaching back to steady himself against the stone, the other flying to…[Read more]

  • “Alessio.”

    There weren’t any windows, and it was dark and trapped. He knew he recognized the voice, but he didn’t have time to think. It always smelled like urine, or something sick that you could never forget. He’d die before he let them drag him back there.

    Someone grabbed his hand and Alessio jerked back against the wall.

    Let me go!” H…[Read more]

    “I’ve seen more of it in the matter of a day than I’m sure most people have in their time knowing you. Isn’t that right?” She grinned

  • @calidris

    I’m going to drop Athena and Ophelia in here for a while! I might not leave them in for long, just because they’re very undeveloped, it can go any direction from here.

    Pia raised an eyebrow. “All my life I’ve had to compete with boys. So naturally I tend to dominate among most…. But I’m still female, and I do have a softer side.” She smiled slightly and shrugged. “It’s just rarely seen.”

  • Erynne replied to the topic RP2 in the forum Fantasy Writers 4 years, 5 months ago

    She nodded. “You know, as much as you come off as the strong one, you really do have a sweet side. Snake.” She tacked on easily nudging the girl in the arm.
