“And…did you just say…camel spit? I was not expecting that. xD”
Aye. Long story short, it’s something my siblings and I do – when someone asks for a noun, we say either “pillow” or “camel spit.” xD
You know… for those Mad Lib games?

Hey Parimis!
Okay, so, I’m working on show don’t tell at the moment. I have written a very short example of my writing and wondered if any of you could have a look at it and show me where I can change any telling to showing? If some of you could have a quick read and show me where I’m telling too much and how I can fix it, that’d be…[Read more]

Hey, everyone! I was just thinking of all the guilds and how we now have a badge, or coat-of-arms-of-sorts, and I was reading through our Parimi Alca backstory. Well, it came to my attention that I have never seen or heard of us having a Creed of any kind. Does our guild have a Creed of its own? If not, do you think we should? I was thinking of…[Read more]

@kb-writer Hey there! I don’t believe I’ve met you. I’m Ari. *gives you cookies*
Anywho…Parimi Alca for the win! We have an awesome guildmaster (@j-a-penrose), an intricate world full of steampunk dragons and lore, and in the past two guild wars, we’ve gotten the honorable mention! Even though that’s not exactly winning, we’re getting closer.…[Read more]

@taylorclogston We’ll just toss up our word counts at the end. No need for verification, it’s just a matter of being honest.
@evelyn Stellar! AND YES. PARIMIS MUST WIN.
@julia I am checking with Daeus right now, and will get back to you ASAP.
@steward-of-the-pen You’ll do great! And again, checking with Daeus. Also, yes. We have a prompt war at…[Read more]

This lesson was really helpful. Thanks, @j-a-penrose ! I can actually name a few times where I’ve done #3. I’ll have to do some editing. 😀
@steward-of-the-pen I agree with what you said about The Warden and the Wolf King. I also felt the same way when reading On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness. I just really wanted to know what happened to…[Read more]

Today, we’ll be looking at pacing in your paragraphing. This kinda leads on with our last lesson as it is to do with structure, but it is still quite different.
When you write, you’re trying to write in the way that the reader feels. This textual structure will result in the readers being manipulated into feeling a certain way. Short…[Read more]

@julia Yup! That’s a good analogy!
@steward-of-the-pen All great points, and definitely true!
@sarah-vdh Typically? If you move the first paragraph of the next chapter into your last chapter, that will fix it. If it doesn’t, then maybe that chapter was meant to end on a dramatic note.

So, lately I’ve been trying to improve my poetical skills as much as I can and I had an idea. What if once every couple weeks, we take turns giving a poetry prompt (something such as a pattern to use, a subject, a word or a first line to build off of, a picture to write a poem for, or a quote to inspire us, etc.) And then we all share what we…[Read more]
