Well, it depends on the ethnicity/culture of the orphan. I have a rather vast world with many different peoples, and it varies between them.
For the Kithnarya/Eya, it depends on which they are firstly (the Eya are Kithnarya, but not all Kithnarya are Eya – a good comparison would be Irishmen versus Irish Travellers). If the child i…[Read more]

I shouldn’t have laughed so hard at that XD I don’t know what picture I expected, but it wasn’t that XD
That’s sadly the best picture I have found to use for him. It fits his personality and attitude so very well.
“Castle!” Chantara called, in the common language once more. Her voice echoed off the marble walls, sharp and clear as glass. “On…[Read more]

“We should…get moving..”
Jericho could feel the boy struggling to remain awake. “You may rest, if you need,” she said softly. Sleep. As Alessio fell unconscious the woman easily lifted him up and led the way back to the rooms they had found, where she laid him down on one of the beds. The dragon was no longer in the chamber, it seemed……[Read more]

Something I had to research recently for one of my own WIPs:
How are orphans who would otherwise be nameless given names in the culture(s) of your world? Babies left on the doorstep of a monastery, children found abandoned in the forest, etc. How do they gain surnames if they didn’t have one originally?

“You understand Kezbe,” the girl observed. “Not many people know our tongue.”
“Is that what it’s called?” Karayan replied mildly. His speech was fluent, but there was a slight accent to it, a hiss to the s’s and a harshness to the t’s. “An odd name, and I don’t suppose I will figure the etymology if I do not know the evolution of your nativ…[Read more]

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Alessio murmured finally. “What happened after you pulled back the veil?”
Brendin rolled his shoulders in an attempt at a shrug. “The mirror showed me a…” He hesitated, unsure. “…a nightmare, I think. Though it may have been a memory. I don’t know.”
Jericho took a pace closer to the boy and lightly put…[Read more]

Wait, it’s Brendin not Brendan…?! Wait…*which one have I been writing…?*
I am pretty sure you’ve been consistently spelling it correctly with the ‘i’. I wouldn’t be so specific about it except the single letter actually changes the meaning of his name; Brendan would mean ‘Great Prince’, while Brendin means ‘Dark Prince’.

I like your introduction, and I really like the portrayal of the Sire. Hopefully the castle doesn’t give Glenesh too much trouble…
Also your description sounds like someone Nadia would recognize as a wiseman or scholar from the land of her people. So there might be some fun confusion later. As she often spent her afternoons, Nadia b…[Read more]

Ok, I just want to take a moment to appreciate how all Karayan has done since he came here is bleed burn lines and eat cookies he is awesome.
Thanks! Yes, Karayan is about 80% sass by volume. He’s also several hundred years old and has the accompanying wisdom and he’s seen it all so by this point he’s just kinda done with a…[Read more]

The flames began to die down almost on their own once Jericho laid her hand on Alessio’s shoulder. Brendin lowered his arm and regarded the others. “What happened?”
@this-is-not-an-alien @kimlikesart Sorry it’s so short, but it seems the best way to move things along.

I just want to comment, you have been consistently spelling Bren’s name wrong. His name has an i where you put an a. Brend<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>i</span>n. It’s not a huge issue, I just noticed that it’s been continuous.
And I’m pretty good. There was a lot of stress about a week ago but that was figured out…[Read more]

The main character (a soldier) was ambushed and left for dead since he took an arrow to the neck, but he wasn’t actually killed thanks to some of his armor. Luckily for him he happened to be not very far from a hidden village known as Stagfall, which is populated by the Tali (humanoids with claws and prehensile tails) and one of the Stagfall…[Read more]

@rebekah12 @fitz Yay, so excited for you to join the castle. I’m going to use Nadia, one of the MCs of my fantasy WIP.
Character Name: Nadia Fabian
Age: 17
Occupation: Minstrel, dancer, musician, and storyteller (essentially a bard)
Family Members and Significant Others: No real family, though she does take an interest in one of the…[Read more] -

(Sorry for the absence guys)
Þorunn regarded Chantara thoughtfully as a string of curses left her mouth, curses Þorunn’s father might spout were he in one of his ale-addled black moods. When the girl slipped back into her imitation of a weak young girl, whimpering at the sight of her bloodied fingers, the shieldmaiden couldn’t help but snort in…[Read more]

Hey everyone, sorry for the prolonged absence; there was a semi traumatic incident a few days ago and then my schedule has been booked since.
Jericho healed the wounds on Brendin’s face as quickly as she could without doing a hasty job of it. She needed to follow the others after Alessio had run off, but she couldn’t leave Brendin here alone…[Read more]

Hi, sorry it’s been a while, I’ve been really busy lately. I’d love to continue the rp with you but I’m not sure how well I can use Xavier since the story he’s from doesn’t really exist anymore… Would you mind a change of character?
