@ashley-tegart Very interesting! I do have a love for British and Russian literature. What aspects would you say you draw from them?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Ah, yes, guilds…I miss my Erekdale. Wow, all three of these dragons sound very cool. I love how you have Bible verses from which they are based. And which themes in particular would y…[Read more]

@skylarynn Nice! Are there any certain culture’s legends which you are more partial to?
@imwritehere1920 I’ve been meaning to read The Girl Who Drank The Moon, actually! Best of luck with your research!
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Haha, thank you for the warm welcome. I’ve actually been here since the day Story Embers was established (you can…[Read more]

So, usually I do medieval Fantasy (i.e Ranger’s Apprentice style) with maybe a very light touch of magic (I have a phoenix in my current WIP novel). But I’ve also tried a dystopian/fantasy style for a MG short story I just finished. It’s kinda like alt. history, in the sense that there’s wagons, trains, towns and cities, b…[Read more]

Thanks for the reminders! Here’s a piece of micro-fiction I wrote for a contest that I decided to use as a guinea pig. There’s a few bloopers, but let me know what you think (and if I did the link right).

And no, I do not have a website or newsletter unfortunately. I’m just a fledgling author and my fulltime occupation is learning as a student still. I’ll probably have to start a website at some point though considering the amount of stories I plan to pen, and when I do I’ll be glad to put a link on here.

Technically Ekavir is from my second WIP, A Syne of Marring, in a way. That’s part of the same world that A Syne of Marring takes place in, though on a different part of the continent and a few centuries back in time. That world is really large and there’s lots of stories in it.

Hey, would anyone mind if I swapped out Þorunn for someone else? She seems to have worn out her welcome and Chantara tried to kill her, so…
As for who I want to bring in, I have a few ideas:
Casurus, a side-character hero who wears an eyepatch but not because he’s blind
Acantha, an empress who seems either benevolent or evil depending on how y…[Read more] -

Thank you for replying! I’ll probably take a few days to go through everything carefully before I give a real reply. While I appreciate your concern, your energy here is misplaced. This is a forum for Christian writers to write about characters – characters that can encompass the entire scope of humanity. This is not a forum dedicated to Christian relationship advice, nor was such advice asked, do not turn this into something it isn’t.

@irishcelticredflowercrownThanks so much but I um can’t really watch videos with my Internet, if I watch anything over ten minutes in a month it crashes the Internet…sorry. Hi Cathy,
It is perhaps more of a blessing not to be able to watch all of the videos out on the Internet.
Referencing your reply: “…can’t really watch videos with my Internet, if I watch anything over ten minutes in a month it crashes the Internet.”

Hi Brian!
Yeah, I imagine it really is a blessing I can’t spend too much time on the Internet. By the time I can I’ll probably be more discriminating about what I watch and disciplined to not get as lost in clicks and blogs and videos then I would be if it were something I could take for granted all the time. I have enough for right now and…[Read more] -

You are doing just great. You do not come across as uncomplimentary or ever rude. You have a kindness that extends from you, and you are very interesting to talk to. Don’t second-guess yourself. @obrian-of-the-surface-world Prologue Meeting of Monsters!

Looking at that chart, I think an ESFP for myself is right. But the description on the Myers Briggs site almost doesn’t sound like me. Some of it does, but quite a bit doesn’t. Though I suppose it would change a lot how I interact with other people around me because I’m a Christian, so that could explain the differences.
-
That is awesome, Olivia!
You have every strength where I am lacking (a little bit). 😉
I do admire those of you who are born with the boldness of being an extrovert.
And the other combinations show you to be a caring and feeling person.
I hope you employ those powers of feeling and perception and integrate them into your works. The insights of…[Read more]-
Haha, well God did make people to be different so we’d balance each other out. I can’t imagine a world with only people like myself. xP Wouldn’t really work out well…
Thanks, though I of course didn’t do anything to become an extrovert. But I highly admire introverts as much as I do extroverts. In my opinion, introverts have just as many great…[Read more] -
I am an INTJ or an INTP with the pretensions to be an INFP.

Oh, gotcha. That’s complicated! How did you figure that out?

I just took the online test and that’s what it told me, based on my preferences. I just remember being a Melancholic-Phlegmatic-Choleric from back in the day. The Myers-Briggs was a new one I had not tried before. I’m a work-in-progress. 😉

Okay, that’s cool! Mine didn’t say that, but it’s cool that yours did.

I believe I’m an INTP. I have some INTJ qualities and relate to a lot of the jokes and humor about them as well. My best writer friend is an INFP.
I’m also of the phlegmatic temperament.

I have done the Myers-Briggs and another personality test and came out as INFP both times

Yeah, I myself don’t really know what the Rissians did or what exactly Resolve is. I really just wrote this on the spur of the moment after getting the word “Resolve” in my head. And so I got this sarcastic main character and really interesting first person present tense. Usually that drives me nuts, but I think it’s…[Read more]

Sparrow,
This is very good, though. Each scene should leave a reader with enough questions to entice them to read on for the answers in prior or following scenes.
Even your excerpt does that, and it begs to be a larger story, and that is exactly what needs to happen.
While isolating a single scene like we both did on Audio Cinema may seem a bit…[Read more]-
Pulling this out of my files has definitely made me want to get back to it! The writing came (comparatively) easily to me. I love Malar’s voice and it is shaping up to be the kind of story I want to read.
