Thanks so much for all this! It’s going to be very helpful to keep in mind, and also reminded me of why I love writing Biblical fiction in the first place. 🙂

Thank you! I’ve never thought of surfing Pixabay for ideas, so that will be very helpful to keep in mind. Biblical knowledge is also another reason to increase Bible reading, since no book has stories equally as exciting and dramatic. 🙂
Thank you for the advice.

No problem!! And no, sadly, the @everyone tag does not work. 🙁 We should petition to get it made or however that works, though!

*thumbs up* I’m kinda pressed for time this weekend, but I’ll try to get feedback to you ASAP. 🙂

Hi Joelle,
That is perfectly fine. I just thought I must’ve missed tagging on the post or something. Still trying to figure out how the Forum’s work (i.e. when to Tag and when not to and how to reach all in the Feed. Does the “@everyone” actually work?
No rush on the reply. I wasn’t trying to be impatient…I’m just a little clueless. 😜
May you…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting
The monsters don’t eat anything thematic, necessarily, but their role in the story ties into the book’s larger theme. I’m about to start doing some revisions and will end up weaving in more thematic/symbolic significance!I can’t find the post in the thread, but I did get an email about America…[Read more]

Yeah, I try to steer away from having God just clean up all of the messes and have the humans take no accountability for their actions. I get why He had to with our sin, because there was not way the human race could ever redeem themselves. But in the course of stories, I think using a “deus ex machina” is like a bad parent example: A parent who…[Read more]

See I hate when the protagonist doesn’t have to take personal responsibility for his mistakes! Like, lesson learned isn’t all that useful if you never apply it and it’s not all that loving to not at least try to make amends. And we really really must be disciplined and purifie…[Read more]

Oh, I love Dostoevsky! Crime and Punishment and Demons are two of my favorite books.
The monsters come out at night and hide themselves in shadows and mist. According to my world’s lore, they devour everything and leave worlds behind them in a state of darkness and decay. There may also be some other kinds of creatures later…[Read more]

@ashley-tegart Oh nice! Any authors you admire? I love Dostoyevsky most, I think. What are the monsters like?
@obrian-of-the-surface-world Oh, cool! I’ve been looking into doing blog serials. Do you have any tips? Wow, your life sounds busy. I’m glad you’ve been able to write, though!

Hi Linyang,
I first heard about blog novels back when I learned that Andy Weir’s “The Martian” began that way, before it was picked up by a publisher and later made into the Matt Damon movie by the same title.
That idea intrigued me, so I found out what Blogs were…I’m so out of touch..😜…and found that I could just get a free Blog on…[Read more]-
At this point, I have to ask you, are you a pastor or something?

@obrian-of-the-surface-world Hey, forums are a place for long answers! Usually mine are on the shorter side because I don’t have much to say.
Ah, Lordship! I haven’t heard of that very often. I think it’s definitely a very interesting topic to tackle. What is the premise of your novel, btw?

Your WIP sounds grand too. I love elemental magic and mythology, and relating it all in a Biblical framework is super cool. I’m trying to do something similar, but my world is completely other, even though it has some real-world parallels.
