@kayla-skywriter – I think so, but honestly I don’t really know what fingerstyle is. xD Is it just like breaking up the chords to be played by individual fingers?
@holly-anne – Ooh, that’s so cool that you taught yourself guitar! You must be great at playing by ear. I’m terrible at that, but fortunately I’m okay at reading sheet music. Otherwise…[Read more]

@holly-anne Thanks!
I mainly play classical music, I am in the prosses of composing my own score though! Piano is also my main instrument, though I have been playing the other two longer. 🙂

Okay, I got it. Chords can be hard, I still transpose songs to avoid playing F.

Ooh, yes, Score. I just got it for my birthday. My favorites from that album are May it Be and Schindler’s List.
My songs are… kinda random? They’re not country, not rock, not pop, not hymns… they’re normal? I have one lullaby I wrote that’s kinda not though… it’s a lullaby that a mother is singing to her boy when she sees into…[Read more]

@emberynus-the-dragonslayer: 😉 Yup, you do! 🙂
Okay. Long explanation incoming. You don’t mind if I do that, do you? 😉 Dragon Slayer is a total allegory about Jesus essentially. My main character is the allegorical representation of the thief hung to die beside Him. Her name is Shantael – Shan for short. She lives in a clan of thieves and is an…[Read more]

@emberynus-the-dragonslayer: Hey! So, I listened to the Austin French songs you recommended and I LOVE them! I think either Why God or Freedom Hymn is my favorite.
@elisha-starquill: LOL yes it’s just so much fun to add things in your story where most readers are like “Huh, well that’s random” and a small few are like “OHHHH! *impressed finger…[Read more]

@trallion – I know, compared to piano, my violin sounds so bad. But I’m in love with it played by people who actually know what they’re doing, so I put up with it. 😛 Do you have a favorite composer for solo piano?
@holly-anne – Thanks, I will! Those are exactly my sentiments. xD Every time I hear flute I melt internally (especially that one clip…[Read more]

@emberynus-the-dragonslayer *holds out a hand to help you off the floor.* (wow inspiring line) Chocolate isn’t my preferred sweet thing either you know, though I like my sugar free/ alternative sweetener version. But for me it would be nut butter or caramel any day ( if I could eat caramel)!

Yay, another guitar lover. Nylon or steel string?
You can’t play chords? At all? What type of music to you play then?

Yes, Andrew Peterson’s stuff is great. I actually learned how to play Matthew’s Begots on guitar.
Yes, guitar is great like that.
I play all sorts of things. For piano I do some classical, some soundtracks, and sometimes a hymn. For example right now I’m playing My Heart Will Go On, a duet of…[Read more]

Cool! I listen to K-love and Air 1. I like Jeremy Camp too and I really like Austin French 🙂 😛 ! I also like Kristian Stanfill, Chris Tomlin, Catie Hurst and SOME Owl City. . . who BTW has instrumental music. (I mostly just listen to his Christian music though, and then sometimes the instrumental)
Nothing…[Read more]

@holly-anne My dad has all sorts of instruments. XD Most of them are more mainstream, though. To me the ocarina is just out-of-the-ordinary enough to be interesting while still being easy-ish to play, lol.

Trallion replied to the topic Music And Writing…Are You Musical? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 8 months ago
Really? That’s funny, because I kinda started with solo piano, but now I’m trying to learn more instrumental stuff like soundtracks as well! Do you compose by hand, or on the computer?
-
R.M. Archer replied to the topic Music And Writing…Are You Musical? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 8 months ago
@holly-anne I don’t play any instruments. Though my dad does have an ocarina that I’ve messed around with a few times and I’d like to learn to play at some point, particularly seeing as the one ocarina book we have in the house is LOTR music. XD

Thank you so much!!! YES, abstract-ness is awesome. I have a dream to actually compose my main characters’ soul-melodies, but we’ll see how that goes. It’s a pretty stressful job to compose the musical fabrics of my characters’ souls. xD
