@jenwriter17 I’m hoping the pace won’t be too fast, but I understand if you can’t do it. π
@dragongeek @overcomer @naomijackson @martina @toklaham-veruzia @supermonkey42 Awesome! Would you guys like to suggestΒ some books to read? Limit it to two or three so we won’t have too many options to vote on. And make sure your suggested books are PG.…[Read more]

I finally got around to reading my article:Β http://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/there-are-no-rules/emotion-vs-feeling-evoke-readers
1. I love how this writer defines feeling as refined emotion. π That was a helpful definition to learn.
2. I thought his use of surprise to create emotion was interesting. It makes…[Read more]

Hey friends!
Would anyone like to join an Avensbeck book club? I’m not sure what we’ll read (it depends on everyone’s suggestions) but if enough people are interested, I’ll hammer out the details. π
Would you guys like that?

@KiraElizabeth Let me ask π I’m assuming you just give them to me, but let me make sure.

@Sam-kowal I like that one! It’s a good reminder to use other tools to show emotion and not solely rely on telling, internal sensations, or body language (which I tend to do).
I agree that it’s not something to use all the time, but it’s helpful to keep in mind. π

@naomijackson Congrats on your publication! π
@jenwriter17 Bravo for finishing your first draft! π
@overcomer Sure :). Are you launching a website soon?
@kiraelizabeth Oooh, that’s a good thing to remember. π
@toklaham-veruzia What book are you reviewing?

@jenwriter17 That’s a good one! π I need to remember to show instead of tell emotion. Telling is just so much easier sometimes. π

@kiraelizabeth That is a fantastic question that I don’t know the answer to. I will ask Daeus. π
@overcomer @jenwriter17 Ok! I’ll let you guys know if we need ya. (I’m editing myself, so I understand the conundrum. I wish there was a way to count it.)
@naomijacksonΒ Daeus is going to set up a document where you can submit your word count. π

Hello!
This next guild war is a little different than the last. Instead of creating a story together, we’re going to keep track of the number of words we write. Whichever guild writes the most wins!
Here are a few rules and such:
-the competition starts today and ends Monday
-Only fiction and poetry counts
-Only new scenes count (editing and…[Read more]

Morning!
This week I want you guys to do a little research.
Find one article that relates to emotion in storytelling and share it with your fellow Avensers. If you have time, find one or two things you learned from the article and share them. Then address one point you agreed with and one you didnβt (if you found any).
And if you have any r…[Read more]

Hey friends!
Last week we shared writing goals we wanted to reach before the week was out. I didn’t achieve mine, but I still felt like the practice was beneficial <span style=”background-color: #f6d5d9;”>andΒ </span>motivational. π
What are your writing goals for this week?
My goals are:
1. Edit 18 chapters of my WIP
2. Finish those…[Read more]

@Sam-kowel @kiraelizabeth @toklaham-veruzia How did you guys do on your goals for this week? I managed about 8 or 9 chapters of my WIPΒ and only reached the outline/first draft stage of my articles, so I didn’t quite make my goal. I blame books. π

@Supermonkey42 Whoa, I liked how you explained where his excitementΒ came from, or else we probably would have thought he was sadistic or something.
