@kate Yay! Here’s mine:

I still have to go back and fix repetitive language and put some details to rights, but here’s my draft, about the same length as Kate’s. Please tear it apart… and edit away.
Also, I assume for the sake of time, people…[Read more]

Okay guys! *flops down on the floor* It’s done. The current word count is 2,736, so we do need to trim a little if we choose this one, but it’s basically down. 😛
I’m not sure what to think about it, honestly. Neither first person nor comedy are my strengths, so I’m not entirely sure how it turned out. Not to mention the last half hour I was…[Read more]

Yelp. @daeus-lamb posted this on October 1st, meaning it’s due October 14th. Don’t we usually have a draft going by the time the second week rolls around?
I can write something-that’s-not-so-good-but-it’s-still-something by tonight, then turn it out to all of you so we can jump into the editing process.
Or, if someone is reading this who wants…[Read more]

@ethryndal Sorry, I’m not sure I can be of much help. I rarely consider myself “stuck”. Sometimes I don’t want to write a scene, though.
Whenever that happens, I do some serious-soul searching. Why don’t I want to write this scene? Then I ask myself: can I skip this scene? If the answer is Yes, then I skip the scene. If the answer is No, then I d…[Read more]

So nice to meet you!! Do you have a WIP? What’s it about?
Thank you! I feel very welcomed. 😀 I have never read “The Anatomy of Story”, by John Truby, but it sounds really good. I’ll need to check that out! Thanks for…[Read more]

@ethryndal
Thanks for the helpful tip! 🙂 And I think your right sometimes as writers we do get stuck on the big picture, but sometimes it’s the little scenes that really grab our readers like how our characters view something.
Something I tend to do when I am stuck is brainstorming. 🙂 I go for a walk, take a notebook and think out loud, writing…[Read more] -

@ethryndal, I am currently stuck in a scene and I think this might help. 🙂 Some times I get stuck in a scene because I’m just writing the things happening, without the POV character’s thoughts on what’s happening. That might be an amateur problem though. 🙂

Ohhh, this is so good!! I never really thought about this particular problem much, but now that you say that, I bet focusing on the small details could fix a lot of problems I’m dealing with right now in my WIP! 😀 I have a lot of trouble with wanting to write this great, amazing, inspiring scene and when I don’t I get really…[Read more]

I just wanted to ask if anyone else was planning to try tackling Inktober this year! 😀 If so maybe we can share our progress here.
My personal goals for Inktober are, 1. Complete a finished ink illustration every day. And 2. I want to really focus on getting to know the cast of my comic better, and get used to drawing them more. So I’m going to…[Read more]

Alright guys, it’s time for a new discussion, I want you guys to show each other an art piece you are most proud of (it’s okay to boast a little bit right now) and why. What has it taught you? If it was an old piece you were once really proud of and you see how you’ve grown, share that too. I just want you to have a little fun and see how you have…[Read more]

I also struggle with how slowly I write. Sometimes it seems like everybody and their cousin is publishing a new book every year, and here I am, nineteen, with a dozen novels under my belt, still unpublished, taking three years to write one novel and feeling like a crippled tortoise. I wouldn’t say it’s jealousy of others’ successes, but…[Read more]
